Nashville’s Porter Flea was launched in July 2011, with a focus on celebrating modern handmade goods. Now in its sixth year, the juried and curated, semi-annual market is led by Katie Vance and her husband, HollerDesign owner Matt Alexander, who continue an emphasis on the handmade art and design movement, local businesses and community building. Along with connecting hundreds of local/regional makers with tens of thousands of shoppers, Porter Flea has earned consistent press praise, including being named Best Artisan Market by the Nashville Scene in 2012, and appearing in Southern Living, Garden & Gun, Native, Forbes Travel Guide, StyleBlueprint and other publications.
Want to get involved with Porter Flea but you’re not ready to be a vendor yet? Become a volunteer! You’ll spend time with team PF, have a couple drinks on us, maybe booth sit for a vendor if they need a little break, and have plenty of time to shop. Porter Flea vs. Porter Flea Pop-up...what’s the difference?
Well, in the past we’ve hosted *Porter Flea,* a two day, indoor, heated/air conditioned event with perks like a VIP preview night, a nail bar, live music, best booth award and more.
This time around both for your safety and our mental health, we’re hosting *Porter Flea Pop-Up.* It’s a one day, outdoor but covered market. We organized booth layout so we can have fun, rain or shine. There will be 18 foot aisles to prevent crowding 💅🏼 Vendors will load in and load out the day of the market. We want this to be as easy for you as possible, so pipe and drape will be provided for your booth + you can opt to rent tables and chairs in your application. Don’t sweat it over an elaborate set up, we’ll be sweating enough outside in August 😅

Before we introduce you to the vendors, we’d like to address racism and inequity in the maker space and at our markets. For many years we have been committed to making Porter Flea increasingly more diverse but we continue to see room for change and improvement. In the past our jury process has been anonymous but admittedly all white. This is inexcusable. During the next round of applications this fall, we will create paid positions on our jury for Black makers, rework our marketing strategy to reach more racially diverse applicants, and reinstate our emerging artist scholarship program. In addition, 100% of the profits from the summer market merchandise will be donated to . From the inception of Porter Flea, we have tried to ensure the happiness, safety, and success of our vendors and we look forward to doing better as we continue to learn, grow, and work.
