Chuck Taylor was born in Brown County in 1901… that’s older than the Magnolia House. We wore Chucks and now our kids wear em over 100 years later.

Chuck Taylor was born in 1901 in Brown County, Indiana? 🤔

He grew up in Columbus and went on to play semi-pro basketball before joining the Converse Rubber Shoe Company of Chicago as a salesman. As one of the leading salesmen, Chuck persuaded the company to incorporate features into the Converse All-Star shoes that had been produced specifically for basketball.

He promoted the new shoe, which became the best-selling basketball shoe in history and eventually was known as "Chuck Taylors." See Chuck's Chuck Taylors on display in our NEW Gallery One when it opens Saturday!
