Steeping some delicious Piper and Leaf Mistletoe Grove in a Santa mug on Christmas Eve feels oh so festive. This was a souvenir purchased on our recent trip to Alabama in November. Piper and Leaf Tea Co. is located just outside of Huntsville and distributes nationwide. What are some of your favorite souvenirs to snag when traveling?

This Christmas we are thankful for many things. Last night we hosted our annual Nashville (Clarksville) tour guide party. There was a room filled with the most amazing, talented and devoted individuals. Our entertainment was provided by our own team including songwriter Wil Nance, Mark Cash, Anita Stapleton, Rylee Barry and Dave and Daphne. What a blessing to have them all “Sharin’ the South” to our guests.

Also grateful for amazing partners in Southern Escape Tours and Tennessee Express Tours as we all get to share these amazing individuals and we love celebrating all together every Christmas.

Closing night had to be celebrated big in Rocket City! Cal with the Opry was ready to go to hit the Galaxy in his space suit. My new friend Emilia with Academic Expeditions thought she would sneak in a selfie with our friends from Switzerland and I wouldn’t realize it…jokes on y’all, lol! Shirley with NTA and Elizabeth with the National Comedy Center struck a pose with me in my skirt. (The glowing photo is proof that it did in fact glow in the dark.) So glad I got to see Naomi with Visit Macon before we closed down the final party of the week. Now for everyone to have safe travels home and plan out itineraries for our clients for the coming years. Always a pleasure to see and do business with amazing industry professionals. Don’t worry, there will be more trade show recaps to come. We just had to sneak in this one tonight.

Sightseeing tours started yesterday for the main conference. I attended the Pre-launch Tour featuring Antebellum homes in Huntsville. We started with a visit to the Burritt Museum and Park and then made stops around town to some amazing homes. We were able to view many homes, but I’m just sharing a few sneak peeks with all of you. We had a local author as our guide leading us through history and dropping in some ghostly tidbits and scandals along the way.

NTA attendees had the pleasure of enjoying the opening night ice breaker in a beautiful venue all decked out for the holidays. Hot cocoa half way through was a nice sweet treat to enjoy for the remainder of the stroll. Spending time with great friends and mentors makes for a great evening in the gardens.

The last few days were a memorable and moving experience on the US Civil Rights Trail. When we hear civil rights most of us immediately think of Dr. King and Mrs. Parks. I’ve walked with Foot Soldiers the past few days and spent time with people that lived through this time in history. In some of these pictures you won’t see a smile on my face. I promise I was enjoying my time, but many times I needed to be in the moment and feel the feelings. Take a peek at some special parts of the museum.
