WHEN YOU FINALLY MEET YOUR "PEOPLE"

Rowlf (brown Doodle) was a stray that came to our rescue in New Orleans. Today he arrived in Illinois and is now with one of our rescue transport partners Pet Pack Rescue Initiative

If you are looking for 24/7 entertainment and need someone to make you laugh on a daily basis, Pet Pack Rescue Initiative has oodles of doodles available for adoption!

Rowlf and his peeps are ready to bring some mischief to your home :)

Are you going to visit Oregon's North Coast? You should know:
➡️ The Pacific is powerful, so practice beach safety — always assume waves can reach you and never turn your back on the ocean.
➡️ Protect the ecosystems by staying on designated trails (and don't create new ones).
➡️ Trash has become a problem. Bring your own trash bag and pack out everything you bring, including food containers, gloves and face coverings.
➡️ Facilities like restrooms may be limited. Be ready for when nature calls, even if that means packing out your waste — the same goes for your dog, too.
➡️ Cars that block emergency access or driveways can be towed. Park your car in designated areas only, and have a backup plan if the parking lot is full.
➡️ Coastal businesses are small. Your patience and manners are needed as they work hard to serve all visitors.

Bring on the sun!

Quite the run of sunny, even warm weather, close to 70 in some spots

With the rain of today & chilly temps tonight, there is a chance for some patchy black ice to form along area highways. In general, these areas will be on the east side of the Coast Range, closer to the western Willamette Valley.

Look here: We can follow the pressure wave from the volcanic eruption on Jan 15, 2022 across the northern US from the WA coast to MN/ND. The speed of the wave was ~764 mph or a little higher than the speed of sound in air (761 mph).

Edit: We want to thank our fellow mets at US National Weather Service Spokane Washington who took the time to create this post for us all.

please help minimize single use plastics!

please help minimize single use plastics!

Over the last few days we’ve noticed a significant amount of plastic in the wrack line.

Which reminds us of two things:

1st: Whenever possible, reduce your purchases of single-use plastics. If alternative containers and vessels are available, go for those!

2nd: Do your best to dispose of things in the proper places—recycle what you can, throw away what you can’t. (And compost!)

Also, while we’re on the topic of making wise consumer choices—and this is a personal pet peeve—please, please, PLEASE don’t treat the new, thick plastic bags as disposable. If you’re not going to re-use, consider paper!

FREE!!

Everyone can fish, clam and crab for free in Oregon on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 26-27.

No fishing/shellfish licenses or tags (including a Combined Angling Tag or Columbia River Basin Endorsement or Two-Rod Validation) are required those two days. Both Oregon residents and nonresidents can fish for free.

All other fishing regulations apply including closures, bag limits and size restrictions. See the Oregon Sport Fishing Regulations for rules and remember to check for any in season regulation changes, especially for salmon and steelhead fishing, at https://myodfw.com/recreation-report/fishing-report/

These two days after Thanksgiving have been set aside for free fishing for several years, as part of the movement encouraging people to get outdoors. Oregon State Parks also waives parking fees to provide free day-use entry on "Green Friday."
