The Edgewater Cottage: Coastal-Culinary Abundance ..

Kelp and seaweed that grow so exuberantly that the shore at low tide is more plant than water. Be careful to harvest it in a way that it will grow back again and again to respect & preserve our natural abundance.

When you see flowers popping up on your yard in spring, the same thing is happening in the ocean. Their boots slosh as they step carefully to avoid squishing the many creatures that live on the rocks or in the water.

At the clam beds in Netarts, Harth digs up dark-shelled butter clams on the beach with a shovel, then scoops each one out with his hands. They’re easy clams to find.

Friends of Netarts Bay Watershed Estuary Beach and Sea (WEBS) is dedicated to sustaining the area surrounding Netarts Bay through education and stewardship. WEBS staff and volunteers are knowledgable nature guides and interpreters offering free adventures to help you fall in love with and take care of this beautiful section of the Oregon Coast.

The Edgewater Cottage: Local Events - Discovery in Stone, stone sculpture workshop City Arts Center; Our next Discovery in Stone for 2023 will be on May 13th & 14th Saturday and Sunday from 10am-4pm.

Feel free to drop in and see what's going on or come for both days. We have some new stones to pick from and some new kinds of tools. Anyone can carve cool things in stone, we are there to help you do it!

The weather will be fabulous, so bring your sunblock!

The Edgewater Cottage: Local Events - Discovery in Stone - Carving Workshop Bay City Arts Center

The Bay City Arts Center will be hosting our next Discovery in Stone for 2022 on July 9th & 10th Saturday and Sunday from 9am to 4pm.

As usual we have sandstone and black basalt as well as all the tools you will need, tuition by donation.

All COVID protocols are lifted and no masks required at this time.

It will be great to get busy, do some carving and hang out with everybody!

Please note that the August workshop is on the 27th and 28th.

The Edgewater Cottage: Local Events - Bay City Arts Center (BCAC) will be hosting our first Discovery in Stone for 2022 on May 7th & 8th Saturday and Sunday from 9am to 4pm.
