Basswood Chalet & Guesthouse wears many faces. We are a wedding venue - getaway home - a writer’s retreat - a meeting place - and an entrepreneur’s saving grace. Perhaps you’ll discover another reason to love Basswood Chalet & Guesthouse ...
As a venue, we cater to smaller, more intimate ceremonies inside the chalet where couples can get married, renew their vows, commit themselves to each other, or baptize their little one in front of a 22-foot river rock fireplace. Outside, a couple can make Romeo & Juliet proud by getting married on the deck surrounding the chalet while a larger gathering of their guests watch from below. In the woods a couple can marry Bohemian-style under a green or colored canopy of leaves, and then host their outdoor reception in the courtyard.
Need a place to just get away from it all and enjoy some peace and solitude? Basswood Guesthouse is a separate building from the chalet. With over 750 square feet of comfort built into it, you can sleep in, listen to the loons or owls at night and read a good book without anyone bothering you. Sip coffee on your private deck facing into the woods, keeping your eyes peeled for the deer and turkeys that walk right around the guesthouse. Bring your sweetheart! We cater to love birds!
Perhaps you have a book you’ve been meaning to write (or finish). Come be inspired among Mother Nature’s elements - the lake across the road; the woods surrounding you; the fire pit; the whisper of the wind in the trees. Walk the many trails in the area while you collect your thoughts, and then return to write without phones ringing or the multitude of daily life’s disturbances.
