The New Buffalo Railroad Museum is housed inside a Pere Marquette Depot replica on the historic rail yards of New Buffalo, Michigan. The “Little Museum That Could” educates and enchants visitors who experience the re-telling of the area’s history with special emphasis on its railroad heritage. 3 stalls of the original roundhouse and coal tower can be viewed. Displays include items from the origina

l train depot plus Pere Marquette and Pullman artifacts. Rail yard crew and steam engine photos, and a large collection of equipment including lanterns are also shown. Visitors operate the HO scale hand-crafted model train layout, which replicates a historic picture of the city in miniature. A rare restored World War II Pullman Troop Sleeper Car, C&O Chessie Box Car and C&O Caboose are open for discovery. An updated and informational Veterans Display proudly honors local servicemen and women. The “Gateway To Michigan” collection presents the historical endeavors of local pioneers. Kid friendly with interactive children’s activities available for different age groups. Visitors are provided with a Self-Guided brochure to discover the museum individually. Hours: Saturdays and Sundays, April through October. Open 7 days. Noon – 5 pm Eastern. No admission. Donations appreciated.
