Another certification in the books! Had an amazing time completing the Rockland BOCES TiG welding class last night. After passing the required practical exam two weeks ago, I took to the scrap aluminum supply. I free-hand cut all of these pieces to make, what else….an airplane!

Congratulations to our friends at Sky Elements Drones on an epic appearance last night on America's Got Talent! Love to see all the new things you’ve done since appearing on The Great Christmas Light Fight with us. Drones are taking over the sky! But Santa needs clear airspace. So just wait till you see what we’ve got planned for this year’s display to protect the sky over the North Pole Airport.

Had an amazing time last night on the banks of the Hudson riving meeting up with The Great Christmas Light Fight season 11 winners Brian MIchael Michael Family Christmas Display, and Preston Ward. Preston (otherwise known as thatdroneshowguy on IG) won our episode. His amazing, world famous company Sky Elements was hired by GE to perform one of their custom shows last night Preston invited Brian and I for a front row seat!!! To say it was instantly cool is an understatement. You can see them next month on America’s Got Talent. You can see me next month opening our pool 😂.

Over the last two weeks, I had the pleasure of presenting certificates of thanks from Angel Flight of New England, the chairty we collect for, to thank those officials in our town who go above and beyond to help us safely bring joy to the community and raise charity. A huge thank you to the entire Town of Clarkstown but especially Supervisor George Hoehmann and Councilman Patrick Carroll for NYS Assembly. We are also so thankful to Cheif Wanamaker and the entire Clarkstown Police Department and the auxiliary officers as well. I don’t think our visitors know how much coordination and help we get from the Town and Police department for our First (F)Light thru closing night!
Thank you for the continued help and support as our number of visitors grow each year bringing more joy and donations to charity!

Sometimes just saying thank you doesn’t cut it.
So we’re going to say it a lot!
THANK YOU to this amazing community. This year was absolutely a dream for us. We got to tell our story and show off all of our love and hard work to millions of Americans across the country on ABC’s The Great Christmas Light Fight.
We made a promise that if we won, we were going to donate 1/2 of the prize money to People-to-People and 1/2 to Angel Flight North East. When we didn’t win, we asked all of you to help us fulfill the promise to these incredible organizations. Well…. You did! You did BIG TIME!!

From the smallest donations of a few coins in the bins, to the largest of online donations, and those matched by some of the most generous, community minded local businesses, you all fulfilled that promise and MORE!
We already shared earlier in the week that People to People - Feeding Rockland's Hungry now has 1.2 tons more food to distribute to those in need because of your donations.
We are elated to announce that due to your donations, we have raised $32,700 for Angel Flight of New England. That is enough to sponsor more than 109 Angel Flights of Hope to those patients desperately needing to access their life saving medical care. In comparison to 2017, the North Pole Airport raised 7 flights. We are honored to make this donation in the memory of our dear angel, Addi Carroll, forever 12 years old in our hearts and memories. Addi’s short but powerful life had a profound effect on everyone who knew her and those who could only dream to have met her. She and her family embody strength, courage, resilience and as the recipients of over 250 Angel Flights, know the value of what your donations mean to families in their position.

We started by saying we have a lot of thanks to give. The biggest thanks goes to our airport ground crew here; Christine, Olli and Logan. Their help and support year round make this fiasco a possibility and whose help is integral and an inspiration. Being on The Great Christmas Light Fight was a dream because we now have a forever gift. A gift of video that documents our family’s love of each other and truly who we are. I’ll treasure that more than any trophy!

Big thanks to all our friends and family who “earned your wings” this year helping us with setup, breakdown and all the little odds and ends, year after year.
OMG, thank you to the BEST NEIGHBORS ON THE PLANET!! You kept our secret last year when the ABC film crew showed up and you continue to keep the secret of how annoying it must be to take 10min to get into your driveway on a Saturday night.

Thank you to the amazing local business who matched your donations this year on their respective nights. We’ll be doing upcoming posts thanking each of them individually but they need to be thanked here.
Venus and Venom- Nanuet location spa donated $200.
Gary's Gutter Service matched for $500.
On Point Tree Service matched for $500 and helps us hang the plane off the side of the house.
Baby To Go matched for $500.
Empire Solar Solutions and Liz Zurla matched for $500 and then sponsored two additional flights totaling $1,100.
Linda Fernandez Realtor Top 1% in Rockland County & Nationwide matched every Sunday night this season for $1500.
Sabrina Perri: Allstate Insurance and Perri: Allstate Insurance matched every Friday night this season for $1500.
And Lenny Spiegel, the Duke..nay King himself, owner of Duke of Oil and Tune matched for every Saturday night this year and then rounded UP totaling his donation of an incredible $5000.

The North Pole Airport is honored to be in Ward 4. Clarkstown Police Department is just amazing to us and our street.

It’s always one of our favorite days of the year! Earlier today, People to People - Feeding Rockland's Hungry came by for the final pickup. This year, our community helped feed thousands thru your donations here.
Together, YOU donated over 1.2 TONS of food to those in need!!! That’s 2400lbs of food.

Another year has come and gone and I would be remiss if I did not say thank you to this amazing human being. Not only is he the creator of this amazing display of lights, but he is the one you will find out there each night greeting each and everyone of you, listening to your stories, learning about your families, sharing in your joy. He brings the ‘light’ and joy to many of us during the holidays and our family is so grateful for him. We love you Gary Cirlin. Thank you for being you!

After 25 nights of shows, we can't believe it but tonight is the final show of the season.
As luck would have it, its also a Saturday which means one final night for the Duke of Oil and Tune to match all your monetary donations towards Angel Flight of New England as they have every Saturday night this season.

Aside from the incredible increase in donations to the charities, the BEST part of being an alumni of The Great Christmas Light Fight is the friends we meet. For the 2nd time in as many days, we had the GCLF trophy at our house.
Last week I had the chance to drive to Hatfield, PA to see the Michael Family Christmas Display and last night, Brian and Kim came to us (on his Birthday nonetheless!!).
We had an amazing time sharing stories and laughs. To share in the joy of the experience and to hold the Stanley Cup of holiday lighting, we invited the Merritt family of Holiday Light Productions, the awesome display at 5 Merritt Dr in Nanuet to come as well.

We are open for 3 more nights. Saturday will be the final night of the season for us so head over to Merritt Dr and us if you haven’t!!
And OMG go to Hatfield, PA!!!

"What is your electric bill?" Everyone thinks it's an astoundingly high number followed by some explanation about needing an on-site diesel generator to power everything. We LOVE to surprise the heck out of people when we say, "Our electrical bill is $0.00 thanks to the 38 solar panels we have on the back side of the house." And you know what?? We use more electricity in July than we do in December (because of LED's vs Central Air and the Pool) So our display is not a special use case. We started saving on DAY 1 after getting our solar panels from Empire Solar Solutions and you can and should too!.
Liz Zurla (914-649-8923) has been a close friend of our family for years. We didn't hesitate for one moment when getting our solar from her. In fact, so many friends and neighbors on our street as well have gotten their panels from Liz.
We are so appreciate of their support of the North Pole Airport and the fact that tonight, they will be matching every monetary donation for Angel Flight of New England!!

We had a very special guest last night. Fellow The Great Christmas Light Fight alumni and winner of his episode this season, Dan Uszaki from the amazing 8 Bit Video Game display in south Jersey. He took his trophy for a Santa Flight Sim ride, departing his hometown airport of Philadelphia International Airport. Dan is now one of the creators of GLOW at Washington Township, an amazing drive thru and Christmas village experience! Also coming by to hold the trophy is Bobby, the creator of the awesome display at 2 Gerlach Dr in New City. Thanks for coming dude! You rock!

We are so thankful to announce that tonight's donations to Angel Flight of New England are being matched by a good friend who provides the most wonderful and caring services to mothers, parents and anyone during the birth and child development process. Baby To Go servicing Rockland, Westchester and Bergen Counties provides many of the critical services such as: Childbirth Education, Labor & Postpartum Doula Support and Newborn Care Prep. We have a lot of reasons to thank our friend Joe at On Point Tree Service. Tonight especially because he will be matching ALL your monetary donations given towards Angel Flight of New England!! WOW!!! But as if that wasn't enough, we also have to thank Joe because during our setup back in October, Joe brings his trucks and crane over to our house and helps us install the giant airplane tail section that sticks off the side of the house.. Without his generosity of time, we wouldn't be able to do that cool element of this display.

It's Christmas Eve but it's also Sunday night which means ALL your monetary donations to Flight of New England are being matched by the one and only Linda Fernandez Realtor Top 1% in Rockland County & Nationwide. It's putting it mildly to say there would be no New City North Pole Airport without Linda. She was our agent when we found this house and didn't laugh in our faces when we put on our must have list, "side yard to accommodate a 70 foot runway".

THANK YOU!!! We had the single greatest night in fundraising history for Angel Flight of New England!!! Those are the only words that come to mind this morning to so many people! Thank you to everyone who came out last night to both see the regular show and those special VIE (Very Important Elves) who signed up to fly in the Santa Flight Simulator Experience. We also have a garage stacked with boxes of food for People to People - Feeding Rockland's Hungry!! Thank you to the business who helped make the V.I.E. Experience even better. Aunt Mia's donated 100 cookies which were devoured!!! New City Bowl & Batting Cages donated a free game to everyone who participated and everything was neatly presented an amazing swag bag from Duke of Oil and Tune who not only helped with the VIE but as always on Saturday, will be matching ALL your monetary donations (going to need a lot of oil changes to equal what we raised last night Lenny!). But most importantly, thank you to our home town heroes, New City Fire Engine Co No 1 for surprising us with lights and music blasting on their way home from the Orangetown Parade!! We can’t tell you how meaningful is it when you surprise us!!! ***Today (Sunday) Weather Update*** Due to the predicted weather, we will likely have a modified show with less if any inflatables up. Sunday night test with less than two weeks to go!!

1 Year ago TONIGHT we were with Carter Oosterhouse filming for ABC’s The Great Christmas Light Fight! Our episode airs in the season premier on Sunday, December 3 at 10pm on ABC national wide!! Before that we open our season with the First (F)Light of our display on Friday, November 24th at 7pm.

With the sun setting tonight, we are one step closer to being ready for First (F)Light which is less than a month away. Our very good friends at On Point Tree Service came to help lift the cargo plane up the the side of the house where it’s secured in place. I’m up in the bucket truck guiding it into the custom steel frame I welded for it and attaching the steel cables to the mounts on the roof. Joe and his team at On Point are not only so generous with their time helping us but are also the best around at what they do!

***EXCITING NEWS!!*** We will be marching in this year’s Suffern Holiday Parade just days before our episode airs on season 11 of ABC’s The Great Christmas Light Fight!! In the midst of setting up the house display, we have begun designing our float! The parade is Saturday, December 2nd at 6:30pm.

On today’s episode of “what the hell am I building?”

**NEW ITEM ALERT** I spent the whole weekend designing, building, testing, redesigning, fixing and perfecting our new (S)Elfie Station. This is a BIG improvement over the last minute one we did last year. Walk up to this fully automated station, push the button and take 4 photos. At the end of your session, it displays a QR to scan that takes you directly to your photos to download for free and share! This ended up being much more complicated than I had originally planned for. It contains: -Webcam -20” monitor -Intel NUC PC -12v power -Programmable times 12v relay -Arduino Adafruit Trinket M0 Nico controller -Arcade momentary button As our favorite YouTube engineer says, “The best part of being an engineer is if there’s something you want and it doesn’t exist, you can design and make it yourself”.

Thanks to the power of Disney+, I discovered last night that our entire display was inspired by a 1992 episode of Home Improvement. “Yeah, it would be perfect if we had an airstrip on the front lawn”- Jill Taylor Thanks Tim Allen! Guess it’s time we add….”MORE POWER!!!”
