"If people reach perfection they vanish, you know.”
― T.H. White, 'The Once and Future King'
To all of our friends, fans and fellow fanatics for great granola:
After seven years of bringing you five of the best granolas there are, I am laying down my mixing spoons and hanging up my apron. As of the end of July 2015, Nate’s Naturals will make granola no more. This was not a decision that I reached lightly, but I could not maintain my business in its current state while providing my growing family with all the time and energy that they deserve.
The last seven years of Nate’s Naturals has been an amazing journey. We have made many friends and learned a lot of things that we couldn’t have imagined at the outset. In an age that seems overloaded by material things, we humans still care about the things that we make with our own hands. And we have the strongest emotional connection with food, which is directly connected with life itself. Food makes our children grow and helps to keep us healthy or unhealthy, depending on the choices we make. Nourishing another person is a surprisingly intimate act.
That’s why Nate’s Naturals has been so satisfying. Selling a bag of granola is a financial transaction, but at the same time it is a small act of emotional connection. Our granola has made a lot of people happy and I am very glad to have done that for so long. And we could not have done it without the hard work, devotion and help of a great number of people who deserve thanks and recognition — that will require a whole separate post. (Stay tuned.)
Above all, we could not have done it without all of you — you know who you are — who love nutritious, healthy food and believe in what we have been doing for the last seven years. Sincere thanks to you all. I hope that one day Nate’s Naturals will be back, bigger and better than ever. But for now, I need to focus my energy on my family. I have an amazing wife and five adorable, creative, clever children who need all the love and attention I can give them.
Farewell for now.
