🚴‍♀️✨ Acadiana 500 Preview Event: Bring Your Own Tricycle Race! ✨🚴‍♂️

Get your trikes ready for an exciting preview event ahead of the Acadiana 500! Join us on March 22, 2025, at the Festival of Live Oaks in New Iberia City Park from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM for a day filled with fun, laughter, and sprint-style racing.

🌟 Event Highlights:
✅ Sprint races for ages 5-14
✅ A family-friendly atmosphere packed with excitement
🛞 Races begin at 11:00 AM – arrive early to register your racer and secure their spot on the track!
🛞 No trike? No problem! Just bring your enthusiasm and cheer on the racers.

This is the perfect way to enjoy community fun and get into the racing spirit. Gather your friends, bring your trikes, and let’s race to the finish line!

🚴‍♂️ Meet Craig J. Viator, an Acadiana 500 Race Committee Member! 🚴‍♂️

We’re excited to introduce Craig, a dedicated member of the Acadiana 500 team who believes in the mission of Optimist International and the power of giving back.

With years of experience working with youth—mostly through coaching sports—Craig knows how important it is to support the next generation. He also loves the nostalgia that comes with the tricycle races, a tradition that harkens back to an important time in Optimist International history.

We’re grateful for his passion, dedication, and commitment to making this year’s event a huge success! 💙👏

"Rodrigue chose to paint the loup-garou who, according to legend, is a cursed human who transforms into a werewolf under the full moon. A French and Cajun version of the bogeyman myth; it was a story familiar to Rodrigue who remembered how early in his childhood his mother would tell him if he was not good during the day then the loup-garou would come and get him that night."

"As was often his practice to use photographs as foundations for his paintings, Rodrigue began looking through his pictures to find an image he could use as inspiration for this loup-garou painting. What he found was a photograph of his deceased studio dog, Tiffany, from which he used her shape and characteristic stance as a rough outline for his interpretation of the loup-garou."
