It’s the first day of Carnival season here in New Orleans, which means we can officially eat King Cake tonight!

In any other city, it’s just Jan 6th but here we celebrate Twelfth Night which marks the 12th day since Christmas….. and so the party begins! Others call it the Epiphany which officially ends the Christmas season in the Catholic church as it celebrates when the 3 wise men arrived to baby Jesus.

Despite what y’all saw on MTV growing up, Mardi Gras isn’t just one day it’s an ENTIRE season.

Starting today you’re allowed to say “Happy Mardi Gras” in the grocery store or to anyone you pass on the street.

So, Happy Carnival season from LoudTalkerTours! Now go get on line and wait for those king cakes!

Mondays are for King Cake donuts.

King cake is said to of been brought to Nola from France in the 1870s. It’s traditionally a delicious ring shaped cinnamon cake that is only eaten during the carnival season with a plastic baby in the middle. It is said whoever gets the slice with the plastic baby will receive good luck and has to bring the next king cake to the party!
