work is extremely important! He is not just a cameraman or a photographer but he is a community archivist, cultural historian and anthropologist with a personal collection of primary sources that truly tells the story of black New Orleans before and after Katrina! He was documenting black culture before it became the thing to do and remains a force of knowledge for others! Go see the Cashmoney exhibit & buy the book! Congratulations

On Monday, September 16, 2024 the invited the community to a traditional New Orleans Secondline celebrating the life, music, service and contributions of Frankie Beverly who sang with the band Maze! We the New Orleans community came out by the thousands to say thank you to Frankie Beverly of Maze for every Jazz Fest, Zulu Ball, Essence Festival, concert, backyard jam, family reunion line dance and for all the good times that his music supported! At the second line there was Joy and Pain, Sunshine and Rain as we sent our brother, Uncle and Parian home the only way we know how and that is celebrating the life while grieving our loss. There will be no one like Frankie Beverly and we say Thank You and Rest in Peace! Our prayers and support to the family! The body was done by Charbonett Funeral Home for the New Orleans celebration!

I heard about Africatown in Mobile years ago and I always wanted to go! A group of Africans were kidnapped from Africa in 1860 and smuggled and sold into slavery illegally in Alabama! Oh but five years later they were freed after the Civil War. These Africans joined together to remember their homeland and purchased land and developed their own community known as Africatown! Zora Neal Hurston wrote about this community and was able to interview the last Of the Africans in the 1920s or 1930s! So it was an honor to walk on this important piece of history and to learn their story!
