I did a thing! I wrote a new cookbook, y’all! BAYOU: FEASTING THROUGH THE SEASONS OF A CAJUN LIFE hits bookstores September 24, and I’m signing every copy you preorder from my local shops .gardendistrictbookshop and . It’s also of course available wherever books are sold online (full list: mosquitosupperclub.com/cookbook). And don't worry we'll be having lots of New Orleans parties to celebrate in September. Email [email protected] to get on our invite list :)
What is this new book about? It invites you into a year of cooking on the bayou in South Louisiana, a place where communion happens at the table, on a boat, and anywhere we gather. Bayou life and bayou people are my people, cooking with the ingredients I grew up with, sharing recipes and the way my cooking has evolved as a Cajun chef is what Bayou is about! Let's make Soft Shell Crawfish Poboys' on soft French Bread, BBQ Shrimp, Apex Jambalaya, King Cake, Fish Collars, Boudin, Rabbit & Dumplings, Turtle Soup and Gateau Nana to name a few. Bayou will ebb and flow through time pulling at your heartstrings and asking you to get up and dance. Life is bittersweet and so full of joy, savor each moment, hug your loved ones, cook for family and friends and know that with each passing moment comes another season, another ingredient, another reason to gather, cook, celebrate and love!
I am a daughter of the bayou, and my books are an act of radical historical preservation. The act of cooking and sharing this food keeps it alive. When you savor this food and cook this food, you, too, are keeping the Cajun spirit of communion alive.
Come on down the bayou we'll pull out a chair for you!
Cookbooks are made by a team of people!
Thank you to my partner in crime , my first mate , my editor , my recipe tester extraordinaire and all the other amazing people that gave their time and energy to this project and the Mosquito Supper Club crew!!!
