That French Quarter life ❤️

13 years ago, me and a crappy little pocket camera went on our first of many tours of St. Louis No. 1. At that time, all the Tour Guides took you to THIS Tomb, as the “suspected” resting place of VooDoo Queen Marie Laveau. They explained there were 2 other possible sites, but no one knew for sure…as they feared someone would dig out her body.
🥀As you can see, MOST believed she was here…as evidenced by the plethora of gifts and “###” scratchings on the tomb. I found it quite beautiful covered in offerings.
🥀Now, the stories have been altered. Now her plain, restored family tomb is said to be where she was entombed. They also forbid leaving offerings of any kind at any tomb.
🥀Despite the change of stories, I adore this Tomb and all the Love & respect that surrounded it for many years. Does it really matter where the physical bones are? Is it not the INTENTION that makes you feel it deep down in your Soul? That is true for me, at least. I have seen a thousand tombs in this city. There are many that I love. But THIS ONE? This one, and the way it USED to look….THIS WILL ALWAYS BE MY FAVORITE 🖤
