The Flambeaux (pronounced: "flam-bow") are torches used during Mardi Gras parades. Throughout the history of our carnival tradition, the flambeaux carriers have lit up the night before floats so that revelers could see the parades. In the same spirit, Flambeaux Bicycle Tours seeks to shed light on New Orleans' traditions and heritage. As we guide you through town, we share our city's colorful past

and vibrant culture. We like our Gumbo spicy, so we throw a blend of history, folklore, culture, and places to visit in our roux. Join us as we guide you through the most unique city in America, in the best possible way to explore it...on a bicycle.

Last time I was in San Francisco I had an amazing experience with exploring the city. They had a tour named the Heart of the City…the same name as my signature tour here in New Orleans! I had to book it. The guide, Josh, was phenomenal. He was here in New Orleans and he looked us up! I love the connections that you make when traveling. On your journey remember that the true treasure isn’t gold, but the friendships that you make!

What I love about New Orleans is that it’s a city of artist. We bumped into at the on our brake today. I started a conversation with Robin and he shared his story with us. Follow him to see where they’re going to pop up next.

The trio is also for hire for weddings, events, and of course at your local musical establishments. His entire presentation…shoes, frames of his glasses, even the St. Cecilia medallion in his mandolin complement the Italian music that he plays. It was great meeting you today! We appreciate y’all playing “Speak Softly, Love” for us!!!

Flambeaux Bicycle Tours is located on the edge of the French Quarter. North Rampart Street is named because of the fortifications that ran along the edge of the original city of New Orleans. On the other side of the fortification was a brickyard owned by the Company of the Indies that later became a sugar cane plantation. The last person to own the plantation was Claude Treme. Subdivided in the 1810’s it would become the first free community of color in the United States.

From this bourgeoning faubourg our Francophone ancestors developed Jazz, social movements, and culinary magic. This travel guide is designed to help you explore these facets of the neighborhood. This simple guide is designed to help you encounter the food, culture, and story of the Treme. Here are our recommendations:

Did y’all see a guy riding around the French Quarter playing a trumpet today? His name is . One of my favorite things about working in tourism is the array of people one gets to meet in this line of work.

Hailing all the way from the Netherlands, Hans delighted us and the Quarter with his talent. Hats off to you my friend!
