Spring is starting to show up… daffodils, mushrooms, snowdrops, aconite… have you seen Mother Nature waking up yet? Stay at Starlight and have 20 private acres of nature to discover.

Beautiful native plants that we have on the property right now!
#1-2: Dense Blazing Star - listeria spicata - native pollinater
#3-4 : Allegheny Blackberry - pick them dark if you can get to them before the critters do!
#5: Indian H**p - this is native but also very toxic if ingested. Also called dogbane, so keep your pups from chewing on this!
#6: Allegheny Monkey flower… looks kinda like a snapdragon but gets it’s name from how it looks when you pinch the flower 🐵
#7: all of that purple is Joe Pye W**d - a beautiful native pollinator.
#8: make sure you take a hammock down to the pond 🥰 There are 2 trees up the hill waiting for you!

We are working on adding more native flowers and pollinators to keep help our ecosystem. As well as adding fruit trees and shrubs to enjoy! Do you have any favorite native plants you would put on 20 acres in Hocking Hills?

Great tips for your holiday weekend!

As we start this holiday weekend, we want to give some general tips to help make your experience more enjoyable.

1. You cannot swim in any body of water in Hocking Hills State Park. The closest beach is Lake Logan, pictured below. It is about a 15 minute drive from the Old Man's Cave Visitor Center, just outside of the town of Logan (For more information, follow this link: https://ohiodnr.gov/go-and-do/plan-a-visit/find-a-property/lake-logan-state-park)
There are also other parks with swimming beaches in the region: https://ohiodnr.gov/go-and-do/plan-a-visit/find-a-property

2. Holiday weekends mean that our parking lots get very crowded. Have a plan B, C, or D for your trip. Research the area for backup options. Who knows, you might find a new favorite site! The earlier you can get here, the better. Remember, you have from sunrise to sunset to be out on trails.

3. Check out our free naturalist programs for the weekend!

4. Lastly, but most importantly, be safe out there!

I won’t stop until I get it right. New light filtering curtains in the “Let’s Eat” corner of the living space really opened up the space and helped us bring more of the outside in.

If you can’t imagine how lovely it is to eat breakfast at this table, maybe you should just try it for yourself!

Don’t you 💕LOVE💕 a good Before & After?!?!

They told us we should tear it down. But there was history in these walls… and a LOT of snakes and dead Japanese beetles 🐍🐞

We took this sad little cabin and made it a place for respite. Come stay and see why we love it so much here in the Hocking Hills 🥰
