Celebrity sighting not guaranteed, but also not rare. My walking tour guests got a twofer on Friday, crossing paths with Amy Schumer, then NY Giants QB, Russell Williams (). The footballer couldn’t have been more gracious and friendly, and even posed for a selfie. He was filming something with the NYPD.

Honored to host a handful of Jane’s Walk attendees last night and discuss the legacy of Jane Jacobs, and the many ways her legacy manifested in the redevelopment of Brooklyn’s DUMBO neighborhood in the last 25 years. Organized by Municipal Arts Society (), New York hosts the largest collection of such walks. Check out their page, many slots are still available through Sunday evening.

I love living in a melting pot. Atlantic Avenue in Brooklyn has long been a vibrant and active hub for many of NYC‘s Muslim community. The strip was formerly known as Little Sweden, and became a popular soft landing for Muslim vendors after they were evicted from the city’s public market in the 1960s to make way for the twin towers. Today, foodies across the city flock to Sahadi‘s and their delicious and unique offerings of Middle Eastern spices and foods. The strip is home to middle eastern grocers, restaurants, fashion, housewares and, of course, Mosques. Happy Ramadan!
