We had the chance to sit down with Gordon for a quick chat and got to know him better.

1. HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN IN THE TRAVEL INDUSTRY? HOW AND WHY DID YOU GET STARTED?
I have been in the travel industry for over 30 years. I unofficially started before I went to college. Working as a local host and tour guide in Austria while I was still a teenager during my summer vacations. This Tour Operator was owned by family. As a result of this experience I ended up going to a business school focused on the tourist industry. The program included an internship, which I did with US based Tour Operator at their offices in Amsterdam. This resulted in a job and a move to Baltimore USA. The rest is history as they say.

2. WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR FAVORITE DESTINATION AND WHY?
Always a tricky question. From a "wow" perspective, Antarctica is very high on that list but exploring East Africa was not too shabby either and neither were any of my other travels.

3. WHAT'S IMPORTANT TO YOU WHEN TRAVELLING?
Generally, I like to be well outside my (daily) comfort zone when traveling. Travelling is all about enrichment. This said, we do all need a few days on the beach here and there as well.

4. WHAT'S NEXT ON YOUR BUCKET LIST?
New Zealand, the Galapagos Islands and an expedition Cruise on the West Coast of Africa.

5. WHAT'S THE MOST ADVENTUROUS THING YOU'VE EVER DONE WHILE TRAVELING?
I had the privilege to visit Libya right after the sanctions were lifted. Gaddafi was still in charge and walking around the old town of Tripoli being the "only" tourist in town made me feel like Indiana Jones on one of his adventures. An experience and feeling I will never forget.

6. WHAT'S YOUR NUMBER ONE TRAVEL TIP ANYONE PLANNING THEIR NEXT EXPEDITION NEEDS TO KEEP IN MIND?
