In-Person Tours
Art Tours of New York offers spring and autumn tours. Each season is composed of four different tours and each tour is repeated ten times – once for each of the ten different groups. You may vary the day of your attendance to suit your needs. We visit Chelsea, The Upper East Side, and The Lower East Side, and see art from a great variety of disciplines including painting, sculptur
e, drawings, prints, photography, installations, video, and performance. Exhibitions are selected from various styles and periods, with an emphasis on nineteenth, twentieth, and twenty-first century art. Biographical information about the artists is given to help you understand what prompted them to create their art. Interpretations and meanings are offered and artworks are placed in the context of the philosophy of their time as well as their social and political milieu. Clear explanations are given as to how works of art are made and how they function in the marketplace. These tours are for art-lovers with a sense of adventure.
