Happy Monday 😊

A young lady told me that she wishes to become a model but she doesn't feel like she has a good chance because she doesn't look as good as the models seen in magazines and on social media.

When I showed her this picture of me without makeup, poor lighting, no re-touches, airbrush or filters then a professional picture that has been digitally manipulated she understood that the audience only sees the best part taken at a photoshoot.

After looking at my picture of ma real self (probably thinking damn what a hot mess🥴🤪🙃😆 LOL) now she feels confident to give modeling a shot and not compare herself to other people's images. She told me if she never becomes a model she will try her best to stop comparing herself to others.

Thank you to my friend for sharing this front cover of a Financial Manual in Florida. She was pleasantly surprised to see my face while studying for her exams. Lol. Hopefully my big wide smile brings her good luck. 🤩

I remember doing this shoot with my acting husband for the day. This is an example of character modeling. Acting out a character during a shoot. There's lots of work for this type of modeling. You can be of any height, weight, size or shape.

Strategy:
If this is the type of modeling you want to get into practise taking candid action shots with a friend. E.g talking, cooking, cleaning, walking the dog..... any everyday activity.
Take shots and send the best ones to commercial modeling agencies so they can see how you look on camera. Look meaning not how beautiful but how natural.

These photos were taken the fall in Rhode Island USA.

Practise your poses with a photographer or a friend with a camera phone and listen carefully to the directions given to achieve a great shot. Try to do this as often as possible and remember to stay safe and keep your distance.

lifestyle is wonderful. After spending 5 yrs living in the suburbs (New England) Im starting to miss living in NYC. It reminds my of my hometown London. Both cities are mixed with various cultures, ethnicities and . Can't wait to visit both places again.

I received the following question from an aspiring model:

Q. As a new model should I say yes to unpaid photoshoots and runway shows? I just want to get paid for my time today.

A. Yes you should participate in (good quality) runwayshows and photoshoots even if there is no budget for the models.

Reason: You can gain exposure for potential paid modeling gigs and great experience. With experience comes confidence. Use this as an opportunity to build your portfolio and network.

An aspiring model told me that she cannot approach a modeling agency until she perfects her walk. I had to explain to her that
no one can be perfect that is what makes us human. I told her to go for it and see what happens. Make that move girl 😄 and model.

This time last year in California I decided to show my daughter some basic catwalk on the beautiful street of Santana Row in San Jose. We attracted a crowd and then women gathered round and started doing the walk.

If you want to become a catwalk/runway model makes sure you practise your walk in public.

Traditionally tearsheets are pages removed from a print publication such as a magazine or a newspaper. The first image of a tearsheet is a page removed from a magazine. Second one was taken from a newspaper. Third photo was taken off a billboard and thanks to the internet, models can obtain copies of a digital ad as shown in the last picture.

I've received messages from models around the world asking how they can get a visa to model in America.

Tearsheets prove you have worked as a professional model and can also be required by some foreign countries (E.g. America 🇺🇲 ) before they will issue a visa allowing you to work in their country.

Positioning a group of models in a tight show is a challenge but the results are magical.

Models need to be patient and cooperative to achieve this look

One of the more challenging aspects when starting out can definitely be getting comfortable working with the model(s) on a shoot. Grab a friend or family member to pose as a model and practice your poses together.

How do I become a hair model?

Submit snapshots to hair companies and products for a casting.

Tip: Use indirect light from a window, or if going outside, keep the sun behind you to avoid casting unflattering shadows.

If you're just starting out as a model, then simple are just fine. Agencies do not expect you to have a from a well-developed . In fact, it can actually be better if you do not have professional photos because they want to see the real you.
