CDA in the Media: The exterior of your home makes a first impression before guests enter and Demi Moore's home is visually striking with one surprising natural element - wood. Homes & Gardens Magazine wanted experts to speak about this paint alternative and our very own Carmen Larach gave her professional opinion. See what Carmen had to say about using natural wood exterior for your home.

The exterior of the actress's home is a modern masterpiece – and experts say it's due to this natural material

Today is the last day of Black History Month and we wanted to close out with 10 black architects who shaped American cities (via Town & Country). We appreciate their contributions to our skylines!

They fought racial inequality in architecture and shaped the skylines we know today.

CDA in the Media: We love talking about architecture. For Apartment Therapy, our project architect and Landmarks specialist Sona Kyselica, is helping readers define Row Houses. You may have seen one and thought it was a townhouse. Check out how you can tell the difference. Thanks again Heather Bien for the inclusion!

Combining high-density housing, urban walkability, and oftentimes historic charm, row houses are an architectural style that spans countries, continents, and centuries. They’re as popular today as they were during the late 1800s, and you’ll find them everywhere from historic districts in cities ...

CDA at Work: An empty lot space on Terrace View Avenue in NYC will soon look like this. We are currently working on a new residential building design.

One of the services we provide are photo-realistic renderings so our clients can see their vision and revise the design accordingly. Here are two drafts we sent to our clients today.

What do you think of this residential building design?

CDA in the Media: Sona, our Project Architect and Landmarks Specialist, was featured in Apartment Therapy speaking on the history of Dutch Colonials. Thanks Heather Bien for the inclusion!

The city block I grew up on in Richmond, Virginia, featured just three styles of homes. There were small, one-story brick rectangles — not quite long enough to be considered ranches — and a handful of two-story homes. Every other two-story home, including ours, had shingles covering the top half...

CDA Layout: Living in New York, we know a floor plan is all about getting the most out of a small space!

Placing furniture in 3D during the design process helps us to ensure that each room has a functional layout - like this common area in an apartment on Empire Blvd in Brooklyn we are working on.

This rendering also makes it easier for the client to visualize the finished design and make any possible changes.

What design tips do you have for maximizing a minimal space?

WFH Life: Since we've been working remotely, we are always looking for simple and new ways to bring the outside in.

Our project architect Sona likes to liven up her desktop with fresh cut flowers from her garden.

CDA in the Media: Thank you General Contractors Magazine for including us in your top 15 Best Multifamily Architects in Brooklyn list! We are so honored to be included and recognized.

And congratulations to all of our fellow BK architects who are listed with us! 👏 Here's to the buildings we shape that help to shape our neighborhoods.

Brooklyn has a long and illustrious past, and is still currently filled with culture and life. If Brooklyn were its own city, it would be the third-most populated city in the country. The neighborhood is well worth exploring because it is home to iconic New York sights such as Coney Island, the Broo...

CDA at Work: We loved working behind the scenes with Bleacher Report to assist with getting the permits for this cool James Harden x adidas Basketball vol. 6 visual art installation that went up last week in Brooklyn.

For projects like these, you need an architect to help with securing ZRD1 permits. We were privileged to be the architect on record in helping to secure the permits for The Bleacher Report team.

The visual art went up at these Brooklyn locations:
Barclays Center, 620 Atlantic Avenue
Atlantic Terminal Mall, 625 Atlantic Avenue
Caesura Building, 280 Ashland Place
35 Lafayette St & St Felix St.

CDA in the Media: Our firm's designer, Carmen Larach was featured in MyDomaine's article about adobe and pueblo-style architecture. If you were ever curious about, or looking to purchase (or build) an adobe-style home, Carmen shares what makes a house adobe-style, and what interior and exterior features you could expect to see.

Fun Fact: did you know that adobe, or sun-dried bricks also have North African origin?

[Thanks Ashley Abramson for the write up!]

These unique, regional homes are characterized by functional features like natural materials, earthy tones, a flat roof, and small, deep-set windows.
