Rome This Fall From $3334

Rome wasn't built in a day, but you know what will be gone, maybe even in a day? Prices for this primo price from NYC to Rome. Let us be frank: Business Class tix to Europe this fall aren't super cheap, but our agents have located some secret Italy fares that are really, really good.

This October, just in time for cooler temps and smaller crowds, we have fares from $3334 on ITA Airways, Business Class, roundtrip, fees and taxes included.

A month later in November this same ticket is almost $2K more. So yes, Rome wasn't built in a day... but how about locking in this brilliant fare TODAY, to explore the history and beauty of the Italian capital. It's a bargain, and a bellisima one, at that!

WOW‼️ This Underrated Airline Has Super Comfy Biz Class Seats & A Sauna In The Lounge🔥?! + Paris This December From $2495🎄

Sometimes, it's worth trying something new. Especially when that something means uber comfy Business Class seats and a proper sauna in the airport lounge. Yes, you read that right.

We'll be the first to admit: Finnair isn't usually at the top of our clients' heads when going abroad. However, the Helsinki-based carrier should certainly be in the conversation from this point forward. First off, the favorable geographic location of Finland’s capital makes it relatively easy for travelers to connect from the US East Coast to parts of Eastern Europe and Asia. (And that’s not to mention how seamless it is to transfer at Helsinki Airport.)

But wait, there's more: Finnair has a truly *excellent* premium product, and one of our clients tested it out on a recent flight between Los Angeles and Helsinki. The airline’s latest business class seat, dubbed the AirLounge, is not only one of the more unique seats flying today, but it’s also incredibly comfortable. Like, shockingly so.

We can talk about the local Finnish touches, from the colorful Merimekko-branded amenity kits and pillow to the stunning Iittala glassware, but it’s the love-it-or-hate-it non-reclining seat that captures travelers’ attention.

Finnair flies a business seat on long-haul international flights—like on a 12-hour transatlantic journey—that doesn’t recline in the traditional sense. But don't say "ei" (that's no, in Finnish), just yet.

Here’s what the experience was like, including a stop at the Finnair Platinum Wing Lounge, where weary travelers can sweat it out inside one of the world’s only in-airport saunas.

At the Lounge

Finnair has perhaps one of the most unexpected features in an airport lounge, one we've honestly never seen before. Flyers can experience Finnish sauna culture without ever leaving the airport.

The sauna is hidden in plain sight within the airline’s Platinum Wing Lounge. It’s not particularly well marked, and guests who aren’t in the know may never notice it (stick with us, we'll help you get the most out of all of your stops). When entering the lounge, the sauna is located to your left through separate male and female changing rooms.

Unfortunately, the Platinum Wing Lounge isn’t open to every business-class traveler. The space is reserved for top-tier Finnair elites and Oneworld Emerald frequent flyers. Our client was able to gain access thanks to their status with American Airlines, another Oneworld member carrier. (Non-elite travelers with lounge access are directed to the standard Finnair Lounge.)

What the Business Class Seat is Actually Like

Earlier this year, Finnair completed the fleetwide refurbishment of its long-haul business class cabin. That means every widebody plane now features the AirLounge, a fixed-shell seat measuring over six feet long.

The Airbus A350-900 that took our client across the Atlantic featured 43 business class seats spread in a 1-2-1 layout across 10 rows. What struck them initially was just how welcoming the entry space was, as passengers boarded through a galley in the airline's navy blue palette, complete with a gorgeous backlit mirror.

What struck them most was this: instead of creating a business class seat with multiple parts like you might see on other airlines, Finnair went for something different. The AirLounge is almost entirely fixed in place, and you use the seat’s inner shell to find a comfortable sitting position.

The airline did this, in all likelihood, to save on maintenance costs and reduce weight (and thus, fuel burn). However, our client found the seat to be incredibly cozy to both sit in and lie flat on, with plenty of storage space and room for their feet and legs. While the AirLounge doesn’t have a sliding door, there is still ample privacy thanks to the large winged shell.

To place yourself into bed mode, a flap rotates up and becomes flush with the seat surface, filling the gap in the footwell to create a flatbed. Then, to get comfortable, much like on a couch or bed at home, you adjust your body to find the perfect sleeping position.

Add in a simple, yet delicious dinner and a few glasses of the airline’s famous blueberry juice, and you'll doze off for a several-hour nap before landing.

We always thought we’d like to be born into royalty, like the Duke of York perhaps...never did we think of being reincarnated as a Yorkshire Terrier, though...

A New York City-based family filmed the start of their vacation flight, departing Newark on United Airlines. They brought their Yorkshire Terriers along, buying each of the two dogs a seat in business class. The dogs, Amy and Emily, are “task-trained service animals” according to their owner. Do you believe them?

HOT TIP 🔥Ok, if you’re traveling abroad anytime soon, you NEED to know this:

When a restaurant bill arrives for example, foreign customers may be offered the choice on the card reader to pay in their home currency rather than the local one. This feature, known as “dynamic currency conversion” or “currency choice” sounds appealing at first – it’s most people’s kneejerk response to opt for it—after all, this is a service which has done the hard work for you, converting the bill to a currency you understand, giving you a better idea of how much money you are spending.

But it comes at a price – as the fees charged for this sweet little convenience can be exorbitant. In fact, one study shows that the average fee applied to this kind of conversion is a whopping 7.6%, more than double the cost of paying in the local currency (usually between 1.5% and 3%).

Premium airline products have come a loooong way, and quite frankly, they just keep getting better.

Think about it: over the last handful of years, we’ve seen biz class seats transform from being recliners, to being angled flat, to fully flat, to having direct aisle access, to having doors. We’d venture to say that some of today’s business class suites are actually superior to the first class offerings of a couple decades ago.

Our newsletter tomorrow outlines 5 incoming Business Class upgrades and products that make us want to travel the world in style.

The InterContinental Singapore is offering a voucher for a one-night stay to guests whose planned activities get rained out.

Dubbed the “Rain Resist Bliss” insurance package, there are of course a few caveats we’d be remiss to overlook:

It’s only available to people staying in suites — prices range from $633 a night for junior suites to upwards of $3,349 for the presidential suite, according to CNN.

And, the rain must “exceed 120 cumulative minutes within any four-hour block of time during daylight hours between 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.”

In case you didn’t know, it rains an average of 171 days of the year.

Delta Airlines is now offering passengers a once-in-a-lifetime flight to enjoy a deluxe view of the upcoming Great American Eclipse — the last one for decades.

The eclipse is on track to cross North America on April 8th as the moon passes between the sun and Earth completely blocking the face of the sun and darkening the sky.

The Atlanta-based carrier will offer a special flight for umbraphiles flying from Austin to Detroit, which will let them spend as much time as possible in the path of the eclipse’s totality, the airline announced in a press release.

The flight will take off from Austin at 12:15 pm CT and land in Detroit at 4:20 pm ET.

Five additional Delta flights taking off from Detriot, Los Angeles and Salt Lake City will also offer rare eclipse views.

Did you know…. Airplanes actually make food taste worse?!

It’s true, airplane food doesn’t exactly have the best reputation—but recent studies indicate this could be for good reason.

The real fault lies with the plane, not the chefs! A 2015 Cornell University study found that the environment inside an airplane actually alters the way food and drink tastes — sweet items taste less sweet, while salty flavors are heightened. Low air pressure can further dull taste and smell, making everything on a plane seem bland. According to a study from the Fraunhofer Institute for Building Physics in Germany, it’s about 30% more difficult to detect sweet and salty tastes when you’re up in the air. Next time you fly, skip the meal, and maybe try a glass of tomato juice instead, a drink that tends to taste better in the air than on the ground.

Oooh, this American Airlines operated flight has us saying *opa*! 🇬🇷🏛️This fare is not to be believed—and yes of course it’s non stop and Business Class! Peak season for an off season price, if we do say so. NYC to Athens in August from $3453 is an absolute steal.

Many of our clients have been finding themselves shopping around and procrastinating on purchasing seats to Europe this summer, and our advice is simple: book now, not later. Trust us: You will wind up paying 2-3x more if you wait even another month or two, as ticket inventory is already super low given the Olympics are in Paris this July.🧿

Sure black is timeless and chic, but perhaps it’s time to paint the town—and the skies— red? 🎈❣️🍷❗️🍓🍒

We’ve heard a lot of theories about upgrades and travel, but *this* one is entirely new to us: airplane passengers who wear red might be getting better service on airplanes when compared to their non-red-clad counterparts, according to new studies.

“Airline staff may subconsciously perceive passengers in red as more important or of higher status, leading to enhanced customer service experiences,” blog writer Stephanie Lee wrote.

“So, if you want to receive top-notch treatment during your travels, consider incorporating red into your airport attire,” she added. ❗️

We know no one wants to be called a “Karen,” on board. But get this...there’s officially a name that’s even more...problematic.

We know this thanks to a flight attendant who recently shared a code word that could indicate a passenger is on the flight crew’s naughty list.

“If you’re labeled a Philip, then you’ve done something wrong and should probably expect to get bad service for the rest of the flight,” the unidentified crew member told the Sun.

“That name originated from the term PILP — Passenger I’d Like to Punch — but has changed over time to become slightly more subtle,” the flight attendant explained.

So, if you’re flying and you hear “Philip,” you’d better check your behavior...you might be seen as obnoxious and high maintenance without realizing it, and be prepared for really bad service if that’s the case.
