Happy Veterans Day to all the veterans out there! We salute and thank you for your service.
There is no better way to thank or honor a veteran than by sending them on an Honor Flight. Two of our Harbor Towns have organizations that fly vets on Honor Flights. Stars and Stripes Honor Flight runs out of Milwaukee, and Old Glory Honor Flight runs out of Green Bay. I've personally had the privilege of escorting a veteran on an Honor Flight, and I cannot commend these organizations enough for the extraordinary way they honor our veterans. If you don't know a veteran to sign up for an Honor Flight, consider attending the homecoming events at the airport as a way to honor and respect these veterans.

The Milwaukee War Memorial Center's mission is to "Honor the Dead by Serving the Living". Their memorial pays tribute to all branches of the Armed Forces and aims to tell the stories of veterans who have served and sacrificed for our freedom. The courtyard features an eternal flame memorial surround by a ring of honor signifying the never-ending sacrifice of our military members. Many of our veterans deal with long-lasting effects from their time of service, and we honor and thank them this upcoming Veterans Day.

The Washburn Lakeshore Walking Trail is a 1.34-mile walking and hiking trail along the beautiful shoreline of Chequamegon Bay on Lake Superior. The packed limestone trail weaves among the beaches and bluffs of the lakefront. The first section of the trail is wheelchair accessible up to Washington Avenue with entrances at both ends. It is also a historical trail with interesting signs and historical information on Washburnβs past.

3 Sheeps Brewing Company in Sheboygan has grown from humble beginnings to one of the most respected names in craft beer in the state of Wisconsin (and beyond). Their tap room is open daily and is dog-friendly and family-friendly. 3 Sheeps is a BYOF (Bring Your Own Food) establishment, or order delivery from a variety of great local restaurants. Tours are offered every Saturday and include beer samples and a glass to take home.

Manitowoc Lincoln Park Zoo is a great little free zoo (donations welcomed) in the City of Manitowoc. They have a nice variety of around 200 animals, including black bear, cougar, lynx, bald eagle, prairie dogs and much more!

The Ahnapee Trail in Algoma is the perfect way to enjoy some outdoor recreation year-round. The 30+ mile crushed limestone trail runs to Sturgeon Bay and is perfect for running, hiking and biking. In the winter it's great for cross-country skiing, snowshoeing and even snowmobiling. You are sure to see some wildlife while on your trek.

Yesterday was National Fine Art Appreciation Day, and Racine Art Museum is one of the finest places to appreciate fine art. RAM is home to the largest contemporary craft collection in the U.S. with around 11,000 pieces in their collection. Exhibits change two to three times per year, so you are always sure to see something new.

Crossroads at Big Creek is a 200-acre nature preserve in Sturgeon Bay with four trails for hiking, bird watching, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing. The Collins Learning Center has a nature center, auditorium, and science lab. The trails are open anytime, and the Learning Center is open Monday-Friday from 10-4 and Saturday from 1-4.

Seagull Bar State Natural Area in Marinette is the only true dune complex along the Bay of Green Bay and a great place for migratory bird watching.

Wine Seller Winery is a cute little boutique winery in Superior serving their own selection of homemade wines. They have a variety of both dry and sweet reds and whites, including fruit wines. Their homemade wines have less chemical content than store bought wines, allowing the flavor profiles to really shine.
Their current hours are Thursdays and Fridays from 2-6pm, with occasional Saturdays (or by appointment).

There are only a few days left to experience Neville Public Museum's temporary Above and Beyond flight exhibit presented by Boeing. This is a great exhibit to take the whole family to see, as there are many interactive components. Design your aircraft and take it for a test flight and more! We spent at least an hour in this exhibit alone, so I can't recommend it enough. May 7th is the last day to experience it.
