What travel agents do
Travel agents help plan and book travel for vacations, special events or group trips.
“In the past, travel agents were — able to book your flights, hotels, and tours. Travelers are looking for more,” Peter Fanizzi http://www.mygoingplacestravel.com It is all about service. Today SERVICE means different things to everyone.
Yes, it is a generational thing.
These days, travel agents advise on multiple aspects of a trip to create a travel experience. Their role can include:
Regional tours and experiences
Developing a custom itinerary
Handling emergencies and changes
Organizing travel insurance http://www.goingplacestravelex.com
Booking transportation (airfare and ground transportation)
Booking hotels, cruises and excursions
To reflect the expansions on a travel agent’s role. Simply put we BUY travel for customers! To think there is some other way of saying this most new agents are missing the point!
Do you have to pay a travel agent? I love this question.
We are a business and yes you do pay a travel agent.
It is not any FEE structure We get paid by travel tour operators and cruises.
One of my favorite ways to describe us is "You can paint your own house or hire a painter"
How valuable is your time? This is what it comes down to TIME!

Pros of using a travel agent
Still not sure whether a travel agent would be worth the cost? Some additional advantages of using a travel agent as opposed to planning your trip yourself include:
Saving money.
Travel agencies can save customers per trip through promotions and deals from suppliers that average travelers don’t have access to. This is always subject to when and where you are traveling.
Expert planning on important trips. Whether it’s corporate travel, a honeymoon or a 50th anniversary trip, you’ll want it to be impeccably planned.
Help with trip disruptions. Many travel agents offer 24/7 support before, during and after your trip to help with any challenges or changes that arise.
Curated experiences. A destination expert might find you experiences you never have discovered on your own, like an insider, after-hours visit to Cambodian ruins or a vintage car rental in Italy.
Extensive vacations. You need expert destination knowledge to plan a cruise to Antarctica, a hiking trip to Bhutan or a two-month-long Galapagos expedition. If you want all the bells and whistles and money is no object, a travel agent may be able to get you into the most coveted hotels, tours and spots.
You’re a beginner or don’t have time. Beginners planning a DIY vacation can easily get overwhelmed.
Using a travel agent doesn’t mean you’ll get a vacation that’s just like everyone else’s. Travel agents use the details of your personal preferences, budget and needs to customize your experience. Some of them even specialize in particular destinations or have relationships with hotels and tour guides which could help you get room upgrades, better rates or VIP experiences.
“These relationships not only allow for special treatment, but upgrades are nice, right? After all, you can’t VIP yourself! In addition to perks, these relationships also allow us to have high-level contacts in the event something should go wrong or a client needs assistance… These are things you are not going to get if you DIY.”
Some travel advisors have even developed specific travel niche. Travel advisors are irreplaceable when it comes to designing a personalized itinerary in a destination with which you’re unfamiliar.
Do you earn rewards on travel booked by an agent?
You might be hard-pressed to find a travel advisor where you earn rewards by booking through them. Ours is pretty simple $50 or more depending on what type of travel is booked. I like to say $50 is worth how many points with your credit card . Some of us are so confused by all the point programs out there they forget the value of the $$ If you decide to use a credit card you still receive all points and get Frequent flyer miles.
Keep in mind:
YOUR hearing this from me. Airline business is our tool. No more no less . Any one who thinks its about the Friendly skies is just not paying attention. Note: seating , service on airlines and of course the bag fees. Airlines do not have to pay higher taxes on those bag fees. It is hard to explain to everyone that the airlines are a business , very big business and if you think they care about 200 seats on a certain flight and why they have 100 different rate categories on that same flight you are mistaken To them its JUST Business!
Hope you enjoyed this comment on our service and of course I am ready to respond to all requests Especially if you looking to book that special trip!
