The year 2023 will mark Captain Eric's 12th professional sailing season on New York Harbor, where he has safely logged over 55,500 incident free nautical miles since pursuing his dream to take people sailing for a living a decade ago! Each sail is customizable but a typical 4 hour sail includes sailing down the Hudson River from Chelsea Piers (passing Lower Manhattan) to get as close to the Statue

of Liberty as possible. From there, we sail around Governors Island and underneath the Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridges on the East River before returning. The sun has set on the 13th sailing season of Narwhal Yacht Charters!

As always, many thanks to my customers, both new and repeat, who have turned my dream to sail for a living into a reality! It’s hard to believe that I’ve been making a living as a sailboat captain for 13 years now!

The Genesis and her captain witnessed a plethora of wonderful moments this season; here are some of the highlights behind those smiles:

• Over 5,000 miles were sailed aboard the Genesis this year and over 60,500 miles since starting 13 years ago. That’s equivalent to almost 3x the circumference of the Earth!
• 88 more reviews, all of which were FIVE stars, were written by very happy customers in 2024. The 13 year review total is now 1,474 reviews, 1,471 of which are five stars and 3 of which are four stars. Narwhal Yacht Charters remains NYC’s top rated boat charter company on Yelp and has now become the top rated sailboat charter company on TripAdvisor. Furthermore, Narwhal Yacht Charters has now received nothing but five star reviews for 10 straight seasons. What a feat!
• 6 more couples became engaged and one couple married aboard the Genesis this year, bringing the 12 year total to 148 proposals and 8 weddings (all said “yes”)!
• In 2024, Narwhal Yacht Charters was named “Charter Company of the Year” by Travel and Hospitality Awards, named “Charter Company of the Year” by Luxury Travel Guide, named a “Best Charter Boat in New York City” by Expertise.com, mentioned in TimeOut as one of the best cruises in NYC, and received the “Travelers’ Choice Award” from TripAdvisor, which means my company is in the top 10% of attractions worldwide.

The highlight of my season was taking my wife and daughter on a five day trip to Manhasset Bay (Port Washington) and Oyster Bay on the north shore of Long Island, the area where I grew up sailing. Seeing my daughter’s happiness throughout the trip melted my heart.

Thanks to my customers, family, and friends for all the love, support, and motivation along the way! The Genesis and her captain are already eagerly awaiting the 2025 sailing season and the thousands of miles and smiles that will gregreet us along next year's journey!

Perhaps the best day of my sailing season is when my wife, daughter, and I rafted up with Captain Bjoern Kils and his son in the quiet, pristine oasis known as Oyster Bay, the sailing haven I grew up located on the waters of Long Island, New York. To share this treasure that my parents exposed me to during my childhood with my friends and family (even my brother made an appearance) is what boating to me is all about!

I really do believe that the Genesis and Sweet Freedom, the two boats you see in these pics, are the most gorgeous OUPV charter boats operating on New York Harbor!

Happy 7th Wedding Anniversary, my gorgeous wife! The only thing that has changed since the day we married is that I love and respect you on an even deeper level. Well, that and we now have a 22 pound cat, settled into our forever home, and have been blessed with the beautiful soul that is our daughter. Thanks for building this life with me.
