Cary took a tour group to Lincoln Center for a great salsa show featuring Cita Rodriguez, the daughter of Pete “El Conde” Rodriguez ("I Like It Like That"). The crowd went wild and Cary jumped out his seat and joined in for some memorable salsa dancing. Cary didn't get a selfie this time. Tour New York with Cary and you never know what will happen...! Cary with Margaret Batiuchok. In her early 30's while a pre-med student at NYU, Margaret met George Lloyd, an African-American "Savoy Ballroom 400 Club" dancer (twice her age) and just six months later they won the 1983 Harvest Moon Ball at Madison Square Garden. Margaret began teaching, performing, promoting, producing, and writing. She co-founded the New York Swing Dance Society (NYSDS) in 1985, when there was no organized Swing dancing in New York. The NYSDS became a mecca for all generations, races, and level of dancers, with the weekly dances consistently drawing 300-500 dancers.

Those days were the tip of the iceberg. Still an avid performer, teacher, judge and advocate, Margaret was inducted into the National Living Legends of Dance in 2012. Tour New York with Cary and you never know who might swing by!

Cary at the Stonewall Inn Uprising 50th Anniversary. The Stonewall Inn originated as a speakeasy regularly raided by prohibition agents. In 1966, three members of the Mafia invested in the Stonewall Inn, turning it into a gay bar. It became the largest gay establishment in the United States, regularly raided by the NYPD who extorted payoffs to look the other way due to the lack of a liquor license. On June 28, 1969 a police raid sparked violent demonstrations, which led to the first gay pride parade on June 28, 1970 from Greenwich Village to the Sheep Meadow in Central Park.

The Stonewall Inn closed shortly after the riots but ultimately reopened in the early 1990s. Throughout the years, The Stonewall regained popularity and continues to pay homage to its historic significance, hosting a variety of local music artists, drag shows, trivia nights, cabaret, karaoke and private parties. Christopher Park and the surrounding area (including the Stonewall Inn) is the first LGBT-history site in the US listed on the city, state and National Registers of Historic Places.

Tour New York with Cary. It may not spark a riot but you'll feel like you were there.

Cary with Orlando Marin in Central Park. Marin grew up in The Bronx. While serving in the Army, he won first prize in the All Army Talent Competition in the Pacific Command, then then toured Korea and Japan before heading to Washington DC for the final competition. This was followed by a performance on The Ed Sullivan Show. While stationed in California, Orlando sat in for Tito Puente on timbales at the Hollywood Palladium. He has had a long noteworthy career, and is the last orchestra leader from New York's golden era of mambo who still performs regularly, earning him the title "The Last Mambo King." Tour with Cary and you never know who you'll mambo with.

Cary with Eddie Palmieri: Grammy Award-winning pianist, bandleader, arranger and composer of salsa and Latin jazz. His band, La Perfecta, featured an unconventional front line of trombones rather than the trumpets customary in Latin orchestras. Tour New York with Cary and you never know who you'll meet.

If you are going to be in New York this week, don't miss Manhattanhenge, the twice-yearly event where the rising/setting sun is aligned with the east–west streets of the main street grid of Manhattan and lights up both sides of the street.

The name was coined by the famed scientist Neil DeGrasse Tyson. Years ago he described the phenomenon as “when the setting Sun aligns precisely with the Manhattan street grid, creating a radiant glow of light across Manhattan's brick and steel canyons, simultaneously illuminating both the north and south sides of every cross street of the borough's grid.”

The upcoming sunset alignment happens on Friday and Saturday, July 12-13. The best places for viewing Manhattanhenge are 14th, 23rd, 34th, 42nd, and 57th Streets. Tour New York with Cary and you never know what you'll learn!

The New York City nickname Gotham means “goat town” in Old English. 200 years ago, “goat town” was a pretty good description of the yet-to-be-developed Upper West Side where goats used to roam freely. And so they do again. Riverside Park Conservancy has brought a herd of goats back to the northern part of New York's "Other Park" where they will spend the summer on sloped terrain overgrown with invasive plants. We all know that goats will eat just about anything, so this is a classic win-win situation: good for the environment and a smorgasboard for the goats. Plus, who wouldn't want to see a goat hanging out in the park?

New York may be the city that never sleeps, and we think we have everything, but an Outlet Mall? Nope. Not until this weekend.

Empire Outlets opened Thursday on the St. George waterfront, just a few steps from the Staten Island Ferry. So for all you tourists that get on the ferry to Staten Island and then turn around and come right back to Manhattan... now there's a reason to get off the boat.

Staten Island officials hope that once you get off the boat, you'll stick around for other venues, including the Botanic Garden, Alice Austen House, Snug Harbor Cultural Center and more.

Stores open and scheduled to open this summer include Nordstrom Rack, Nike, H&M, Levi’s, Cotton On, Converse, Jockey, Starbucks, U.S. Polo, Crocs, American Eagle Outfitters, Banana Republic, Brooks Brothers, Broom & Greene, Columbia Sporting Goods, and True Religion.

Hungry? Choose from Shake Shack, Mamoun’s Falafel and MRKTPL, Staten Island’s first artisanal food hall.

The four level building will also include an indoor golf simulator called FlyingTee.

Have you been to Staten Island recently? Will this new venue get you across the harbor? Comment below!
