Inspiration Post: Meadow, by DRIFT, at Denver Art Museum’s Biophilia: Nature Reimagined Exhibition.

In this exhibition, the meadow is inverted onto the ceiling with flowers in perpetual motion, blooming and pulsating with light on bio-rhythmic scales. Enjoy with DAM’s guided mindful exploration at , where it is coupled with works that show the manifold ways in which nature can both affect and inform, as seen in Floraform Chandelier by Nervous System & Shapeways NYC, One-seater Concrete Tree by Nacho Carbonell, Matthieu Lehanneur’s Tomorrow Is Another Day, and David Wiseman’s Midnight in the Meadow wallpaper.

Inspiration Post: This beautifully layered staircase by was part of a complete home redesign, and was one of the only elements that drew from the existing structure. The curve was inspired by the plaster coffered ceiling dome in the entry, which “began the language to the spiral staircase.” This theme of blending old and new together became the theme of the home beyond.

SPAN Project: A double height atrium graces the Harper House dining room, allowing natural light to flood the space. Similar to a gallery, it extends into and connects the more casual, lower kitchen and living area with the formal spaces in the home; an ode to the owners’ living and entertaining style.

Inspiration Post: Discovering the abundant possibility within everyday materials.

This “Studio by the Hill” by uses perforated brick to create a ventilated and airy space within the tropical climate of Western India. The material is both left open for ventilation and filled to create a ubiquitous material language that takes brick, typically monolithic and flat, and transforms it into a lithe and transient design element.

Inspiration Post: This Berlin apartment by Gisbert Poppler is inspired by a “tailor-made suit”; made to “fit perfectly without being the centre of attention”. Teak, lacquer, limestone, and cane are used to separate living spaces from each other visually, allowing the plan to stay open and light to flow through all spaces, while creating differentiation within the program.

Colours, materials, and details were all chosen to accentuate the client’s existing pieces and living style, with kitchen colours complimenting their existing pots and pans, and patterns on the underside of the dining table for a client who loves to lay on the carpet and listen to music.
