My name is Sara Hill, and I’m a New Yorker, perhaps like you!
Having lived in this city my entire life, I know how expensive rent can be, but it wasn’t until I was laid off in 2011 that it really hit home. Without a way to pay the bills, I turned to Airbnb.
To my amazement, what started off as a necessity soon became my full-time passion. I was not only solving my financial problems, but hosting people from around the world. My humble New York apartment soon became filled with these guests’ amazing journeys, experiences, and stories.
Guest by guest and story by story, that was my adventure from 9-to-5 job to full-time host.
As a host, I’ve also witnessed the recent changes in the local market. Increasing rents, shifting laws, and changing standards from Airbnb have made hosting much more demanding. Where before guests only expected clean linens and a working shower, now we find ourselves in a highly competitive sector.
It was this change that inspired me to start Hippy Hosts, an Airbnb cleaning and management company. I wanted to put my own knowledge to work helping other hosts, simplifying the process so that more can share the great experiences I’ve had so far.
