Showtime At The Museum: Moving Pictures and Music!

Come with us as we take a tour of the “Mainstages Museum of Moving Pictures and Music.” Museum participants will discover interesting videos and music while bringing history to life through movement, music, improv, and critical thinking activities inspired by global cultures. Bob Murphy, L.AC. (Tai Chi) has studied Chinese martial and healing arts for the past thirty-five years. For the past 28 years, he studied weekly with renowned Grandmaster Yu Cheng Hsiang until the master’s death in November 2010. Bob has studied both Tai Chi Chuan and Shaolin systems. He has taught Tai Chi at the New York Open Center from 1993-2003.

Cabin Fever Reliever: Berry Basket Making Workshop

Historic Richmond Town

Learn to make your own berry basket in this Cabin Fever Reliever workshop! This one-day course will provide basic weaving instruction and all the materials to make your own berry basket, just like those made in the Basket Maker's House in the village. No previous weaving experience is necessary; recommended for ages 7 and up. This program includes a tour of the Basket Maker's House in the lower village. This workshop will be held in the Courtroom of the 3rd County Courthouse.

In the course of everyday life, rope and cordage tie our world together. Today, rope is a product made industrially at scale. Before the arrival of rope making factories, rope was made by twisting fibers together with simple machines and hand techniques.
