When I first walked past Apollo bagels in the East Village on 10th St. I thought, “oh another pop-up bagel store” I ventured in to find out what might make these bagels stand out from the many others in the New York City bagelscape. I ordered the everything bagel with scallion cream cheese, and smoked salmon to enjoy the full experience. One bite, and I was totally transported. I heard music and imagined Apollo being crowned with a bagel.
Apollo is a must and we give it a 5 bagel rating 🥯🥯🥯🥯🥯

Ben Bagel’s wife Helene has been making some great gluten free bagel bites. These bagel poppers are made from gluten free flour, plain yogurt and rolled in everything bagel seasonings on each. Very tasty! Add a little schmear and pop away!

DO PEOPLE KNOW THAT THE POLES INVENTED THE BAGEL?

A more important question is “do we care”? It’s a food, not the cornerstone of anyone’s identity!

And everyone knows that bagels were invented in Poland. Most stories concerning its origin see it as being invented by Polish Jews and give various reasons for that but do you know how much anyone would care if it turned out just to have been invented by a Polish priest as a tasty alternative to communion wafers?

I couldn’t care less, pass the schmear!
