The Grange has worn many hats over the years like its original owner, Alexander Hamilton. It was a private residence, museum, church, national memorial, and even a day school. From the c. late-1890s to 1909, at least part of the basement or first floor was utilized as a day school. In this image from c. 1901, a sign on the portico reads: Hamilton Grange School.

Happy Caribbean-American Heritage Month!

Did you know? Alexander Hamilton was born in the Caribbean. Did you also know? Harlem, where Hamilton Grange is located, is home to many Caribbean and Caribbean-descended residents. The vibrant tastes, sounds, and sights of the Caribbean can be experienced throughout the neighborhood.

On Saturday, June 15th, we will celebrate this connection by hosting our annual Caribbean Day event. Join us on our front lawn for music and dance performances, games, crafts, and educational demonstrations. Bring your friends, family, pets, and a picnic.

At 12 pm we will welcome Alva Anderson to the lawn, who perform traditional Caribbean music. At 2 pm, we will welcome the Garifuna Dance Theater (pictured here) for a music and dance performance of the Garifuna, an Afro-Indigenous people of the Caribbean.

Congratulations!

We are extremely honored to be among the four dynamic businesses chosen by for the Champion Black Business program! Our grandparents emigrated to the Bronx from Jamaica in the 1950’s. They opened a pharmacy and became small business owners in their community, providing a much needed service to the neighborhood. We are proud to continue that legacy with The Edge Harlem.

Thank you for establishing such an important program for our community. Link in bio to read about all the incredible featured businesses. Shout out to for your incredible support and bringing us all together.
