“G-BOAD Cleared to Land on Pier 86” The retired British Airways supersonic jet has returned to the Intrepid Museum after receiving a fresh coat of paint at the Brooklyn Navy Yard.

500 drones lifted off as part of the ‘LIGHTS FOR LIBERTY’ aerial display appealing for the release of hostages held by Hamas. Shortly after takeoff however the show got aborted, as many drones lost control and started dropping out of the sky into the water.

Today, for the first time, an eVTOL electric passenger aircraft took off from the Downtown Manhattan Heliport. Joby Aviation's aircraft quietly flew laps over the East River between Governors Island and the Brooklyn Bridge. Mayor Eric Adams wants "New York City at the cutting edge of sustainable flight technology while addressing a persistent quality-of-life issue with helicopter noise". Commercial passenger air-taxi service is expected to begin as early as 2025 here in New York.

Environmentalist and endurance swimmer Lewis Pugh finishes his 315 mile swim down the Hudson River. Pugh swam from its source in the Adirondacks to the southern tip of Manhattan raising awareness of the health of our oceans and waterways.

A replica of one of the most famous ships in history sails up the Hudson River. The Spanish tall ship NAO Santa Maria was built as an ambassador to mark the 525th anniversary of Christopher Columbus's first Transatlantic expedition. She’ll dock at Newburgh, NY [9/13-9/17] and at the Maritime Museum in Kingston, NY [9/19-10/8] for educational tours.
The foundation’s website lists the visiting ship as the NAO Trinidad, which is a replica of Magellan’s ship but either way worth checking out!
