This past week Tilikum wrapped up another great summer camp season! Here is a photo of the college and high school summer staff at the farewell banquet. A lot of learning and personal growth happens when you spend a summer ministering to kids! It is hard to say good bye.

We loved being able to see these bright and smiling faces during our first week of camp! Can't wait to welcome more campers for week two!
Around the grounds at Camp Tilikum are special places hidden in the woods called "trail talk spots". These are camper group discussion areas. The minimal distractions of these locations make them ideal for kids to learn about following Jesus.
Last evening was "Family Night" for all the campers from week 1.
It's a beautiful week for the start of the summer camp season. With Day Camp and Quest we have 160 campers having fun and learning about Jesus.
Our Day Camp and Quest counselors are saying goodbye to training, and hello to the first week of camp on Monday! We are so excited to welcome our first group of campers next week!
Camp Tilikum offers a one-year, full-time, paid internship beginning September 1st. Specialized areas of concentration enable an intern to focus on one or more areas of interest.

Camp Tilikum's Mothers and Daughters Retreat was this past weekend. One fun surprise on Friday evening was the northern lights.
It's always hard to find a place to store your 29 foot canoes in the winter time. Why not hang them from the ceiling?
The very first building in the Lakeside Village Project is the utility shed. This will be the connection point for the new electrical service from Portland General Electric, the solar array and the water system for the cabins. Here is a photo of the utility building being built by Derin Williams, Volunteer Project Coordinator for Lakeside Village.
The solar project is almost completed! A&R Solar have been working for a couple months to install the ground mount array and panels in the pasture behind the barn. Now that the sun is shining, it will begin to produce energy and reduce the electric bill at Camp Tilikum by about $15,000 a year.
Staffing issues have been common for many businesses and ministries including Tilikum the last few years. We praise the Lord that Grant Banham, Program Director, has almost finished hiring an excellent group of college summer staff. TIlikum's High School Summer Staff work alongside our College Summer Staff as Day Camp counselors during the busiest four weeks of the summer.
Running a week of summer camp that includes the 4th of July is always a little tricky depending on which day the holiday lands. This year the 4th is on a Thursday. Camp Tilikum has been accredited by American Camp Association since 1977. Accreditation is an example of our commitment to camper health and safety. This accreditation process is a reason Tilikum was selected as one of the best summer camps in America. Every 5 years ACA sends a team of inspectors to the camp. The Tilikum administrative team spent the last 12 months updating all the policies and documentation for 178 standards (rules or best practices for camp operations). We are pleased to announce that Camp Tilikum completed this on-site inspection yesterday!

Tilikum’s High School Summer Staff work alongside our College Summer Staff as camp counselors during the summer. Guys and girls need to be at least 16 years old during the summer. You are trained in May and then work 5-8 weeks of the camp season. High School Summer Staff are essential in providing support to the college staff with a small group of campers.
The schedule is normally Mon. to Fri. from 7:30 to 5 pm.
Pay: $300 per week, Lifeguards are $400 per week.

Camp Tilikum has six (6) remaining positions to be hired for the College-Age Summer Staff program. Application Deadline April 24th!
Day Camp Staff (working with 1st - 6th grades) and Adventure Staff (working with 6th - 8th grades) support campers as they make friends and deepen their faith. Staff lead Bible discussions, games and camp activities. Summer Staff must be 18 or older and at least one year out of high school.
The 10-week season is from May 30 - August 6, 2023. The schedule is normally Mon. to Fri. from 7:30 to 5 pm.
Pay and benefits include: First year staff - $5,000, Lifeguards and Support Staff - $6,700, Housing is provided at George Fox University. ($2,000 value)

All of the recent rain has filled up the lake. Praise the Lord! We will have swimming and boating this summer! Now we just need to hire enough lifeguards.
