incorporated on July 17, 2013 to promote tourism in the parishes Caldwell, Catahoula, Concordia, East Carroll, Franklin, Madison, Morehouse, Ouachita, Richland, Tensas, Union and West Carroll. The organization’s goal is to capitalize on the environmental, agricultural, social and cultural destinations within the region to bring “new dollars” into the region. Recent studies by the U.S. Fish and Wil

dlife Service have indicated that interest in Louisiana outdoor recreation increased by 40% from 2006-2011. Also adding to interest in Louisiana is the popular Duck Dynasty television series which is filmed in the region. (Source: U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service: 2011 National Survey of Hunting and Wildlife-Associated Recreation. Issued, September, 2012.) Message from President Skip Hawkins:

Interest in recreational tourism prompted the LSU AgCenter to seek grant funding in 2011. Agritourism coordinator, Dora Ann Hatch, applied for grant funds through the Walton Family Foundation in an effort to grow and nurture nature-based tourism on public and private lands in northeast Louisiana. Since 2011, the LSU AgCenter has received $348,000 in grant funds. To help sustain this effort, the decision was made to incorporate under the name of “Louisiana Delta Adventures, Inc.”

As president, I want to extend an invitation to others to join our quest to make northeast Louisiana a premier destination for travelers. Our area has much to offer to those interested in history, culture, festivals, paddling, hunting, fishing and farming. We will be accepting memberships in 2014. Officers:

Louisiana Delta Adventures recognized Bette J. Kauffman as the 2024 Paddler of the Year at this years River Rat Paddle Challenge.

Bette Kauffman is a well-known environmental advocate, educator, and photographer based in Louisiana. She has been actively involved in promoting environmental awareness and natural history, particularly in the context of Louisiana’s diverse ecosystems and care of creation. Kauffman’s work often emphasizes the beauty and complexity of nature through her photography, capturing scenes of wildlife, plants, and landscapes.

She established the first LMNA (Louisiana Master Naturalist Association) Northeast chapter based in Monroe in 2017. Through this organization, she has coordinated the education of hundreds of Louisianans over the last seven years on topics ranging from field skills, mammals, invertebrates, mycology, botany, herpetology to soil science and water dynamics. She has been active in biodiversity mapping across the state, with important impacts at Camp Hardtner, st. Thomas’ on the Bayou and Charles Allen nature trails (aka ULM Biological research Station). There is even a trail named after her there.

She has participated in multiple Butterfly and Dragonfly counts and touched 1000’s of us through her nature blogging.

She acted as Chair of the Rendezvous Committee this year, which hosted naturalists from across the state, introducing and showcasing our region’s many natural wonders.

We are proud to recognize our paddler of the year for promoting our waterways and protecting our environment.

I'm looking for a few more paddlers to enter The River Rat Paddle Challenge to be held on October 12th on my team "THE MOCCASINS". I can offer a "free kayak use", free place to stay race weekend if you need it and if you choose to enter and can even help with registration! Let me know if you are interested!
