The black sand beaches of Iceland were not on my “must see” list. However, now that I have seen them I highly recommend adding it to your Iceland itinerary!

Did you know that these beaches were the setting for Game of Thrones and Star Trek? Reynisfjara is not only famous for its black sand, but is home to some incredible coastal formations, from the church organ-like stack of basalt columns on the beachfront and Halsanefshellir cave below, to the ghostly sea stacks jutting out of the water? These are just a few of the amazing facts about these beaches!

It was a great day skiing Sunshine Village! We took on another area of the mountain and tackled some difficult terrain!

It’s amazing to watch my kids ski and I’m grateful they learned at a young age. I highly encourage anyone interested in family ski vacations to start when the kids are young. And definitely invest in good lessons- I promise they will pay off!
