S'more freshly cooked on Iceland volcano lava, Yum!

In May 2022 my husband and I decided to go to Iceland as it was the first country to allow travel since the start of the pandemic. To our surprise the Fagradalsfjall vocano was erupting and it appears it is once again giving the world a show.
When we arrived, we collected our RV and once on the road, within minutes we could see the glow of the volcano. Naturally we drove straight to it, parked in a dirt parking lot that the landowner had roped off and put up parking meters.
After not sleeping for 30 hours, we hiked up the mountain to view the volcano. Along the way, we stopped to cook s'mores on the slow-flowing lava. People of all ages were cooking their dinner or snacks on the lava, from hot dogs to pancakes
At the top, there was nothing between us and the volcano except a river of swift-flowing, red-hot lava
As I watched eruption after eruption, I welcomed the heat of the volcano. It was midnight, yet the sun was high in the sky and it was 30 degrees.
It was mesmerizing, and at one point, something hit me in the face. I realized it was a piece of lava from the latest eruption that had cooled down as it flew through the cold air. It was soft and still warm.
After struggling to keep our eyes open, we made the one-and-a-half-hour trek down the mountain to our new portable home.
We found a RV park close by and continued to watch the volcano eruption from our cozy bed.
Having been on all seven continents I can say that Iceland is the most magical place I've ever been.
