Janice Wheeler is out there living her best wooden boat life, and with wooden boat life comes maintenance of course. Even while undertaking the painstaking process of replacing over 2000 fasteners she found the time to write up a mention of us and we couldn't be more pleased. This 1954 Sparkman Stephens designed, Abeking & Rasmussen built yawl is getting replanked here in Rhode Island by one of our great customers, Baltic Boat Works. Her double planking is being re-fastened with #8 x 1-1/4" silicon bronze screws on the inner planking, and #16 x 2-1/2" silicon bronze on the outer planking.

We're in the middle of winter, and it's peak boat repair season. What kinds of jobs do you have going at the moment? Show us some photos!

We love hearing from our customers and with winter, also known as boat project season, fast approaching I'm sure there are many of you out there gearing up for some projects. Send us some photos, we'd love to see them.

We just received the following message and photo today:

"The new clevis pins look to be very nicely finished. They arrived very quickly after I placed the order. Unfortunately, I won't be able to evaluate them in service until next spring when my boat is relaunched. Right now it's in the boat barn at the marina until we have passed through the season of solid water. In Oct. when the mast was unstepped, one of the yard crew seems to have lost a turnbuckle pin overboard. Better to buy new ones now, rather than remember the problem two days before launch. My choices were stainless, available everywhere, or your nice bronze ones that match my boat's hardware. Let's hear it for authenticity and doing the right thing for a 63 year old boat that I've sailed for 57 seasons so far."

Bronze Wing Nuts are Here!!!

Nobody has manufactured them for years, and they've always been on my radar. Unfortunately I always had to tell people that they simply weren't available. Not until now at least!

It took us almost a year to find the right manufacturer, and tow were rejected due to the quality being not up to par with something we'd want the Fair Wind Fasteners name attached to. But they're finally here and I'm very excited to say that we are the only company in the world stocking silicon bronze wing nuts!

As we do daily, we're shipping out a pile of boxes to destinations around the world and that got me thinking about who we regularly help with their fastening needs and how diverse our customer base is.

As many of you know, I started this business as a sailor that was in need of a good source for marine fasteners and began selling to boatbuilders of all sorts. Since those humble beginnings we've continued to stick to our roots but have also had the privilege of supplying some impressive organizations. From shipyards, to space programs, and parts for a particle accelerator, our fasteners end up in some interesting places.
