Here is a Village Quick L**e Quick Tip!

Reading an engine oil dipstick is a simple task, but it is important to do it correctly to ensure your engine has the proper amount of oil for optimal performance. Here are the steps to properly read an engine oil dipstick:

1. Make sure your engine is turned off and has been sitting for at least a few minutes to allow the oil to settle.

2. Locate the engine oil dipstick, which is typically a brightly colored handle labeled "Engine Oil" or similar. It is usually near the front of the engine and has a loop or T-shaped handle for easy gripping.

3. Pull the dipstick out of the engine and wipe it clean with a rag or paper towel. This will ensure you get an accurate reading of the oil level.

4. Reinsert the dipstick fully into the engine, then pull it out again to check the oil level.

5. The dipstick will have markings or letters indicating the proper oil level. Typically, there will be two marks - one for "full" and one for "low" or "add." The oil level should fall between these two marks.

6. If the oil level is below the "low" mark, you will need to add more oil to bring it up to the proper level. If the oil level is above the "full" mark, you may have too much oil in the engine, which can cause issues like foaming or leaks.

PATRIOT DAY AND NATIONAL DAY OF SERVICE AND REMEMBRANCE

Patriot Day on September 11 honors the memory of the nearly 3,000 innocent victims who died in the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. Each year Americans dedicate this day to remembering those who died and the first responders who risked their own lives to save others.

For many, September 11, 2001, began like any other weekday. We made our way to work. Children attended school. We shopped, had coffee, waited in line at a drive-thru. Those of us who weren't in New York City heard the first reports on the radio or television. A friend or neighbor alerted us to a plane flying into one of the Twin Towers. We felt disbelief. An accident, perhaps, a miscalculation. Then, a second plane flew into the second tower. Our disbelief turned into uncertainty and concern.

Every year since that fateful day, the United States comes together to remember the fallen. Please take a minute today to remember the first responders, all that lost their lives, and how families were changed forever.
