Beautiful weather for the ride upriver to Gales Ferry Marina today where the Rowdy Girl will spend the winter. Nice little family owned marina!

Went to Block with a couple buddies from HS yesterday. Sea bass everywhere and hungry! Got a few fluke as well but keepers were scarce. Great day with old friends!

The only negative part of the day was listening to the pounding of pylons being driven into the seabed at the South Fork Windfarm on Coxes Ledge.
It’s hard to describe the noise but it’s a deep rumble like thunder in the distance. When you think about that noise resonating through 140 feet of water roughly 12 miles away it’s no wonder there are whales and porpoise washing up on shore dead. I can’t stop thinking about it. It’s kind of sickening!

Had a couple half day sea bass trips in the last week. Saturday started off rough but laid down as the morning went on and we ended up with a decent mess of fish.

This morning was socked in but it was calm and the fish were chewing! Left them biting!

Got Squid?

Seafreeze Shoreside in Narragansett RI has plenty that just came in today. I picked up 125lbs that should last me into next year. Give them a call @ 401-267-4470 if you want to stock up. Not sure what the minimum order is but I’m guessing it’s at least 25lbs.

Launch day today! First spring running downriver from Gales Ferry. Got under the bridge and headed south. A little breezy but boat ran great. Passed the Sub base, EB and the Branford House at Avery Point. Pulled into Spicer’s at Noon. Great day!

My page was temporarily suspended because I shared an article on offshore wind that apparently offended someone. The article has kind of a unique perspective on the development of wind farms and the impact on the environment and individuals.

Why that offended anyone is beyond me. I see this as an infringement on our first amendment rights. And is typical of what we see in the Country for the last 3 years.

Cleaning up my Gulp bucket this morning. I got rid of 3 or 4 leaking containers and put the Gulp in some peanut butter containers I’ve been saving. They hold more Gulp and stay upright in the bucket. This should be less messy this season. I should’ve taken a before pic 😝

A couple things I should mention -
The Plano container doesn’t leak. If I was going on someone else’s boat that might be the only container I’d store in my tackle bag or pack with putting it inside a ziplock. The other thing is be careful combining other baits along with Gulp. I had combined a few pouches of different baits in one of my containers at the end of a long day and it was a mess of stuck together garbage this morning.

Another season in the books! Had some great trips this summer and a lot of rain!! Moved the boat up the Thames River to Gales Ferry Marina for the winter to save a few bucks on storage and be closer to home if I want to work on it.

A little tight getting under the railroad bridge but it’s a nice family owned marina. Like Spicer’s used to be.

Morning half day trip today at one of my sea bass spots. Keeper sea bass were scarce but had a decent pick of fluke off the edge. Fun day with this crew!

Had a great day at Block today. Someone called it “the way it’s supposed to be”, and it was just that. Meat in the box on the first drift and steady action for most of the day. Ended the day with a 4 person limit of fluke to 27”, a pile of sea bass and a hubcap porgy. Cut fish for an hour and a half on the way in and picked up a hitchhiker along the way!

Finally got offshore yesterday and found some tuna. Non-stop action for a couple hours. Fish box was full at 7:30 so we headed north. A nice mix of bluefin and yellowfin. Shook a couple smaller ones off at the boat. A day to remember for sure!
