There is something special about hunting with kids. It doesn’t matter if they are your own or not. They ooze enthusiasm and energy that is sometimes difficult to muster at 3:15am, that is until you are in their presence. It then ignites the same in you. Blake has shot a few toms before yesterday, but I know Youth Day ‘24 will stick with him for a lifetime. From the first setup off the roost until the last setup just before noon where Blake punched his second and final tag, we were covered in toms. Blake’s second tom that charged the decoy from almost 200 yards away and was shot at 7 steps scored enough to put him in the Maine Antler & Skull Trophy Club for the first time. Days like this are why I do it and look forward to it year after year. Hunting is important for many reasons… It’s conservation in it’s purest form, a connection with nature and recharge for the soul, harvesting of delicious meat, creating lasting memories, but most importantly, it is passing on the tradition of hunting, which seems even more important these days. Congratulations Blake and thank you for letting me enjoy the morning with you and your dad. 🦃🏷️✅🦃🏷️✅
