Traditions That Run Deep: The White River Rogues

Since 1964, the White River Rogues have made their annual fishing retreat an enduring tradition—one that started with Scout leaders seeking connection, adventure, and a good catch along the White and Norfork Rivers. What began as a simple campout has evolved into a cherished, cabin-based gathering of 30 to 40 men, with The Y Cabins proudly serving as home base for decades.

More than just a fishing trip, this outing has grown into a social club rooted in camaraderie, complete with evening fish fries, tall tales, and lifelong memories.

We’re honored to be part of their story—and we invite you to start yours with us. Whether it’s your first visit or your fiftieth, The Y Cabins are the perfect gathering place and the ideal base camp for all your Ozark adventures.

The Riley girls are here at the Sowbug Roundup proudly representing The Y Cabins – your ultimate base camp for all things fly fishing! 😄

The Sowbug Roundup is all about encouraging everyone, no matter their age, to enjoy the art of fly fishing. Nestled in Mountain Home, AR, one of the best fly-fishing spots in the world, this event takes place along the stunning White & Norfork Rivers.

You’ll find 150 expert fly tiers, over 20 vendors, auctions, raffles, and a variety of free seminars and casting lessons – it's a great way to immerse yourself in the sport!

This event is also the primary fundraiser for the North Arkansas Fly Fishers, supporting vital conservation efforts, educational programs, and scholarships for students pursuing careers in fisheries and conservation.

Got the privilege to meet these gentlemen and be able to host a place to stay for the night before their next adventure! We love our local Brewery and being able to send people down to enjoy good food and brew!

Bill and Donald from Florida and Washington respectively, just kayaked Ponca to the White River in 5 days at 79 years old. They are now headed to the Current River in MO. They have been kayak buddies for 50+ years. We love hosting these types of characters and hearing their stories. 🍻
