Travelers are freshly back from an incredible Bali adventure, and for some of us, the jet lag is real lol - but at least the coffee brought back from Bali and Vietnam is effective and tasty! ☕️

Final full day of our Bali Adventure! I know there are more pics on people’s cameras and I can’t wait to see and share them, but for now, here are a few random pics from today.
What a ln amazing group of travelers and a very special itinerary to experience this beautiful culture and stunning island. Our memories will indeed last a lifetime.

Highlights from Day 8 of our Bali Adventure - took a boat ride from Pemuteran to Menjangan Island in West Bali National Park to see what we could see below the surface of the Java Sea!
The ocean did not disappoint! Beautiful coral, incredible fish, even a solo turtle and a barracuda. No major sun burns reported! Dinner on our own and a Balinese dance group at the hotel capped off the evening! 🏝️ 🐢 🌏🐠🐟🐡🪼

Day 7 of GlobalOkie Travel’s Bali Adventure continues to explore more of this gorgeous island - from bohemian Ubud to beachfront Pemuteran! The stunning sunrise made a wonderful backdrop for a little pre-breakfast consuming of the mangoes snagged from the trees outside our villas. After breakfast we enjoyed hearing about the reef restoration efforts carried out by and snorkeling over their budding coral growths just steps off the beach from our resort. Afterwards, we learned about turtle hatchery mission. Lots of baby turtles soon to be released into the tranquil waters of the Java Sea. The afternoon was spent chilling at or at the spa or beach. — This trip is going to happen again next year if anyone wants to get spots saved! 🏝️ 🐢 🐠 🤿

I was already pondering offering another Bali Adeventure program next year… this morning’s pre-breakfast might’ve tipped that decision to a strong “yes”. If anyone would be interested 🥰

Bali Adventure - Day 6: Ubud to Pemuteran

We left Ubud and headed northwest to the beautiful beaches of northern Bali and the West Bali National Park. We’ll spend a few days here exploring the coastal and reef environments, and enjoying some sand between our toes.

On our way we stopped and had an amazing lunch (and a wonderful latte and/or fresh juice) at the very trendy restaurant Rusa overlooking Lake Bedugul. We then hit a fantastic farmers market where we sampled and bought some delicious tropical local fruits. Probably one of the things I’ll miss most is access to the fresh fruits and veg.

After we checked in to our resort hotel, we took a quick sunset cruise before dinner under the stars and next to the beach.

Can’t wait to hear the stories about the fancy outdoor toilet and showers 😂

GlobalOkie/“Okei” Bali Adventure Day 5

These last few days have been absolutely epic, culturally and educationally; we have gotten to experience and learn so many things, and our trip isn’t even half way done!

Our first stop today was Deking Batik Workshop where we created our very own batik canvas. Using a stencil we applied two types of wax, before crinkling and dyeing our fabric. I think for our first go, we all got a finished product we can proudly display in our homes!

As is our custom, we consume wonderful food on trips and lunch found us dining on fried fish or chicken satay and noodles overlooking a lush gorge and waterfall…not a bad place to further appreciate the beauty of this incredible island!

The next stop was at Made (maw-deh)Tea where we got to explore their farm and enjoyed a fantastic workshop over Botanical Tea Making/Infusing. Not only did we get to make custom teas to take home, but they had some delicious finger-food tea-time snacks!

We then got the opportunity to visit the HQ of GlobalOkie’s Balinese partner, the Bali Institute. We appreciated learning more about their mission, programming, partnerships, and social/economic development activities that empower many Indonesians. We also got the chance to buy jewelry, sarongs, bags, chocolate, and a few other items made by girls and women facing dire straits in and around Bali.

Our last stop was the 16th century Royal Palace of Blahbatuh where we got to tour and have conversation and dinner with one of the princesses, Princess Gung Ayu, or Praba. Though she is not yet 17, her intellect, curiosity, determination, sense of equality and social justice, and love of research and pondering were very evident and I believe our time with her gave us a boost of hope for that generation. We exchanged questions for quite a while and then politely excused ourselves as it is, in fact, a school night.

All in all, another fantastic day! Traveling northwest to Pemuteran tomorrow with a temple stop and more delicious food!
