The History of Prestige Portuguese Water Dogs:
We starting researching dog breeds in early 2002. After discovering the PWD & doing extensive research on the breed, we adopted our first PWD "Prescott" in 2003. This is where the love story began. I started to educate myself on the breeding of Portuguese Water Dogs. I read several books & decided I wanted to start a breeding program. Our first li
tter was born & I feel in love with helping Diva whelp, care for, clean & most of all, give all the love & affection that a baby could stand. They all our the love of my life. I can't imagine my life without my PWD's. They are like a child in a fur coat. We retired Diva & Prescott in 2007, and we added Aloha (Diva's daughter, from her first litter) to our breeding program in 2008. Aloha was the best mommy anyone could ask for. She loved her babies so much she let them continue nursing until the day they went to be with their forever families. We retired Aloha in 2012, and now we have brought "Jewels"( Aloha's daughter from her last litter) into our breeding program. We only have one litter a year & our babies are very special to us, so I'm very selective as to who I allow to adopt our babies. I want to make sure they get the continued care, love, affection that they have received since the day they were born. They must be a part of your family, and loved just like a child would be. They are very smart, loving, affectionate, athletic, sensitive, easily trainable and want nothing more than to be loved & cared for, and be your best friend. "DOG TEN COMMANDMENTS"
1. My life is likely to last 10 to 15 years. Any
separation from you will be painful remember
that before you get me.
2. Give me time to understand what you want of me.
3. Place your trust in me- it is crucial to my well
being.
4. Do not be angry at me for long, and do not lock
me up as punishment.
5. You have your work, your entertainment, and your friends. I only have you.
6. Talk to me sometimes. Even if I don't understands your words,
I understand your voice when it is speaking to me.
7. Be aware that how ever you treat me, I will never forget.
8. Remember before you hit me that I have teeth that could
easily hurt you, but I choose not to bite you because I
love you.
9. Before you scold me for being uncooperative, obstinate,or lazy,
ask yourself if something might be bothering me. Perhaps I
might not be getting the right food, or I have been out to
long, or my heart is getting to old and weak.
10. Take care of me when I get old; you too will grow old. Go
with me on difficult journeys. Never say: "I cannot bear to
watch" or "Let it happen in my absence." Everything
is easier for me if you are there, even my death. Remember that I love you.
