Raid the Rock Adventure Race

Raid the Rock Adventure Race Adventure Race Raid the Rock is one of Arkansas' longest running adventure races and currently the only one on the 2022 calendar!

Adventure racing usually consist of, at least, two endurance activities and can be raced by teams made up by as many as four racers. The races can last anywhere from 4 hours to 10 days. Our races typically include trekking/running, mountain biking, paddling and some type of "surprise" rope element. All of these disciplines are done while navigating with a compass and map through the entire course.

We typically include the following categories: 4 or 3 person, male, female or co-ed; 2 person male, female or co-ed; and solo. We have both a short course and a long course. The short course is designed to take 8 hours and the long course is designed to take 24 hours to complete.

That’s a wrap…
Thank you Arkansas State Parks, US Forest Service - Ouachita National Forest, and Central Arkansas Water for permitting us the use their natural spaces that can be both challenging and breathtakingly beautiful all at once. Thank you to Central Arkansas Radio Emergency Network for volunteering year after year to keep track of our racers and assist in timing. Thank you The Athletic Clubs for the use of their space for our pre-race meeting Friday night. Thank you Ferncliff Camp & Conference Center, Pinnacle Mountain State Park, and Saline River Canoe for providing boats and a special thanks Michael and Tonya hauling them all for the paddle section. Thank you USARA for adding us to the list of Regional Qualifiers for the next National Championship. Thank you Rave Grafix for some cool race shirts. Thank you to Darryl, Stephen Paulson, Angela Paulson, Alana Reid, and Dawn Morgan Hyndman for volunteering your time on a cold a$$ weekend to help make sure all things ran smoothly. Hey Raid the Rockers! Some of you were brand new to the sport of adventure racing yesterday and I hope you had an amazing time!! If you are interested in learning and doing more of these races in the future, here are a couple of resources for you!

USARA - United States Adventure Association - https://www.usara.com/
They have a list of scheduled events, both USARA sanctioned ones and a crowd-sourced calendar of all kinds of events. Next year's Raid the Rock will likely be a USARA Championships Regional Qualifier, so stay tuned on that!

Some other regional race organizations/races:

Expedition Ozark (NWA)
Off Road Rage Adventure Racing (KS & MO)
Chisolm Trail AR (TX)
Too Cool Racing (TX & LA) https://toocoolracing.com/
Castlewood AR (St. Louis)
Berryman AR (MO)

Plus many more I'm likely forgetting at the moment, but check out their websites or FB pages for more information or to plan your race calendar for 2024! 😁

Adventure racing is a sport that changes lives for the better. We invite you to join us in our effort to show the many faces of adventure racing and all the gritty, exciting, adventurous and heartwarming experiences that keep us coming back for more.

That's a wrap!! The 22nd Raid the Rock is in the books and we have some "Thank Yous" that we need give out. Thank you to the CAREN folks that help us keep track of our participants each year...the adventure is fun, but safety is of the upmost importance...and our other volunteers that helped us make this event a success! Thank you to all the racers that trusted us to create a top notch adventure for them to experience and thank you to our land management partners. Raid the Rock would not happen without each and every one of these folks!

Now it's time for a nap...photos and detailed results with splits to come soon.

Until then, here are the official results.
