September 28th, 2022 marked the day my little families life turned upside down. Hurricane Ian- Cat 5, made its way up Charlotte Harbor which is just a few miles south of us. With flashbacks to Hurricane Charley from 2004, we knew what we were in for yet we had no idea. For over 10 hours we dealt with heavy rain, we lost power a few hours into the storm, and then the worst occurred….something was on top of our roof. I swear to this day it was a tornado. For over 6 hours we were trying our best to fight water coming through our house and gave up around midnight. We used up every bucket, cooler, trash can, towel that we had to soak up or catch water. You’ll see we even had to duct tape a window so it didn’t break 😅 Over the last 15 months we have went through a lot with insurance, contractors and much more. Through all of this, my dad and step mom have been our saving grace. They listened to my anger, hurt, and what the hell moments. If it wasn’t for them, we wouldn’t be where we are now. For Christmas, my fiancé and I wanted to do something special for them. My dad has been talking about going on an Alaskan Cruise for YEARSSSS!!! So this year we surprised them with just that! I’m so thankful we are able to do this because, it’s not even a quarter of what they did for us. This upcoming year they will be cruising with Celebrity and checking off so many bucket list items.
