📸 We just updated the photos for our listing! We're constantly making changes, so it's a whole thing on its own to keep the photos up-to-date!

🪟 The most notable changes in this last update are the new curtains throughout the house. they used to be all sheer and now we we have ones that give darkness and privacy.

🧑‍🎨 Plus, we painted the wood paneling in the living room! It makes such a difference, I can't wait to do the dining room!

🐦 This bird symphony goes all day in the summer

🏡 This space had been an open porch made of corrugated plastic until 2018 when my mom had it closed in and added windows.

Now it’s a favorite space for us and our guests to catch a peaceful moment with nature free of bugs 💆🌿

So this happened the other day… a film crew conducted some interviews in our basement for the true crime series “Bodies in the Basement” which can be seen on HBO Max and +Discovery Id ….

🧟Sometimes it pays to have a creepy (but still clean!) old basement 🙂 I can’t wait to see the shots they got!

Just 22 minute from the bnb is this hidden gem of natural beauty, architecture and history⛲️

These are the beautiful Mt. Assisi Gardens at St. Francis University in Loretto. This estate was the summer home of industrial leader Charles Schwab (who was born in Loretto).

My family and I visited the gardens in July when we went up to Northern Cambria for some fun and sightseeing (more to come)! I’d love to visit in the spring when all that Wisteria is in bloom!

I haven't been to this place yet, but it is top of my list next time I visit!

I'm so delighted there is a creative and cute coffeehouse about 20 min. from our bnb!

They feature medicinal mushroom-infused coffee drinks (and regular ones), smoothies and much more. ☕️

We’ve decided to extend our operating hours this coming Saturday (July 30th), in hopes of meeting all of the people that love yard sales and the Ebensburg Borough & Community!!

This Saturday only our hours will be 8am-4pm.

We work hard & hold your happiness in high regard...Professionally speaking, nothing feels better than knowing our services are so well appreciated that our books are full!

But I understand that feeling when you have a sudden urge to treat yourself, only to be disappointed when you call around and everyone is booked out. I'm here to tell you whether you're newly booking or an existing client... when your favorite pro is booked out, just schedule the damn appointment. Better yet, pre-book several sessions. Ask to be put on cancellation/waiting lists. Wait the month to get in because your patience will be rewarded once that month has passed and you're finally getting your self care sesh on.

👏ALWAYS👏 book ahead as far out as you can so that your year-round treatment schedule isn't disrupted. Waiting or calling back another time will continue to delay your care...so the next time any practioner asks you if you'd like to pre-book, rememeber that you will be so grateful to your past self for continuing to keep your cup full ❤

The fish are back!

Waterways in this region used to be heavily impacted by acid mine drainage (some still are), but with acid mine treatment and dam removal, the streams and their wildlife are making a comeback! Particularly the headwaters of the West Branch of the Susquehanna right near Northern Cambria.

DEAR LOCALS: If you have recommendations for where guests might go to enjoy some tranquil fishing in a nearby stream, let me know in the comments or a DM!

The West Branch Susquehanna River was essentially dead 50 years ago. Long term studies and remediation efforts have been key factors in the river's revival.

Early May Update: Final Photos!

See the previous post for what we did during this update!

Another development was that I used my professional camera equipment and editing software to take these photos.

I'm sure we would benefit from hiring a pro photographer, but as you can see from the last few posts, we're significantly changing the house every couple of months, so in order to save money on photography, I'm doing my best with the tools and skills I have! 📸

Early May 2023 Update:

This was a pretty involved and also pretty satisfying transformation! This post just shows the process and the next one will be the most updated photos of the whole space!

The biggest project was completely remodeling the master bedroom, including painting the wood paneling, new King Size bed, new bed clothes and some decor.

But other big things were
- some comfortable wicker furniture for the front and back porches
- a ton of small repairs and decor changes
- adding window air conditioners and floor fans for the coming warmer temps
- and my sister rescued a cat who is now a new member of the family! 🐈‍⬛

End of February 2023 Update:

I wrote the changes in the captions of the photos, but the big things on this trip were:

- the sofa
- the desk and chair for the dedicated workspace
- professional carpet cleaning
- soft wash of the outside by Stuck’s Soft Wash LLC
- chairs for the counter-height table in the kitchen table
- getting a few more of the small amenities such as the ironing board, iron, pack-play-crib, toddler bed railing, ect.

This and the next few posts will show the progression since opening our Airbnb in January 2023.

This was a family house that has been mostly uninhabited for about 20 years except for a year my sister lived there and 5 months that I did. It was built in 1906 and has had many upgrades but you can see it still has some wood paneling from the 50's as well as some vintage furniture.

Toward the end of 2022 we cleaned up the it up to make sure it is a clean and healthy environment for guests. This including professional mold remediation in the basement by Mold Medics and replacing the broken dehumidifier.

We hosted our first guests on New Years Eve of 2023! We've already changed so much about the house since January. This post shows the photos on our listing when we started in January.
