Step into our classroom in the British Virgin Islands!

At Sail Caribbean, we offer a dynamic, hands-on approach to Marine Biology, partnering with local organizations to support and expand conservation efforts. One day, our students might be tagging sea turtles; the next, they could be exploring mangroves with a local guide. Or, the classroom might be the very sailing vessel they live on, where they’ll dissect squid or dive into lessons on coral protection before heading out for a snorkeling adventure.

In the Caribbean, learning has no limits!

Recently the year-round Sail Caribbean team got together to talk about the importance of summer camp. As we all were campers at some point in our life, there were a lot of reasons to love camp. But the biggest one seemed to be all of the friendships you make that last a lifetime.

Summer camp is a place to make friends and memories that you will never forget, take it from us who are camp people through and through. 🩵⛵

Many of you might remember Gabby Foley, who worked as a Mate in our 2022 season. She has since embarked on an incredible journey to Cambodia, where she is volunteering with the Peace Corps and spearheading a project to build a basketball court for her community. Gabby recently reached out to us to share her story:

"I believe that Sail Caribbean equipped me with career skills that I use daily as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Cambodia. That summer was pivotal for me, as I developed skills in leadership, team management, outdoor education, communication, cohabitation in small spaces, flexibility, and resilience. Living and working on a boat is an incredibly intimate way to connect with the natural environment and with one another. It heightens your awareness of weather systems and the needs of your team, and it reveals how your skills can contribute to the team’s success. I made lifelong friends at Sail Caribbean, and I am deeply grateful to have them in my support network today.

At my school in Banteay Meanchey province, Cambodia, I have written a grant to raise $10,000 for a basketball court—a project our community has long wanted to complete. The confidence and resilience I gained from my experience with Sail Caribbean have been crucial in helping me facilitate my community partner’s skills in project management, budget planning, and fundraising."
