The heartbreaking reality is that incredible dogs like Bruno are losing their lives simply because of how they look. If Bruno were a fluffy dog who was dog-friendly, adored people, and behaved as wonderfully as he does now, he likely wouldn’t be at risk. But his appearance—not his temperament—may be the reason he doesn’t find the loving family he deserves. I’ve already lost too many Brunos this year, and it’s devastating.

From Friends of Lancaster County SC Animal Shelter

Meet Bruno, our ‼️ longest resident ‼️, and honestly, my favorite dog (shh, don’t tell the others). Yesterday, he reminded me yet again why he holds such a special place in my heart. His kennel wasn’t latched properly after he was put away, but instead of wandering off, Bruno came to find me. He sat patiently by the door, wagging his tail and looking into the lobby, waiting for a little more love. No running, no mischief—just Bruno being the amazing dog he is.

I stepped outside to snap a quick photo, then walked him back to his kennel just a few feet away. I didn’t even need a leash; he followed me willingly and walked into his run like the good boy he is. I gave him a piece of bacon, told him he’s the best boy, and promised we won’t give up on him. Bruno has my whole heart. 💙

URGENT: A Ride Can Save Clay’s Life!

The amazing volunteers at the Charlotte shelter have found a foster home for Clay in Fayetteville, NC—a miracle! But here’s the challenge: the foster can’t pick him up during the week, and Clay is sadly listed for euthanasia tomorrow.

Clay is a really good dog who just needs this one chance to get to safety. We’re desperately looking for someone who can help transport him to Fayetteville. This simple act of kindness could be the difference between life and death for Clay.

If you can help, please reach out ASAP! Let’s get Clay to his foster and give him the future he deserves. Charlotte, NC to Fayetteville, NC—can you be his hero?

URGENT: Tomorrow is Burt’s Last Day

Burt is a sweet and lovable senior dog whose time is almost up. After being in the shelter since August, the stress of shelter life has started to take its toll, and he’s beginning to show behaviors like mouthiness that don’t reflect his true, gentle nature. All Burt needs is a chance to decompress in a loving home, and he will shine as the incredible companion we know he is.

Burt is:
• House-trained and crate-trained
• Knows how to sit, speak, and shake
• Great in the car
• Absolutely OBSESSED with toys and tennis balls
• A people-lover who adores his humans

He even got to be the office dog for a day and hilariously broke into a shipment of new tennis balls! He’s a joyful, smart dog who just needs someone to see the good boy we all see.

Burt would do well in a home with pets or kids, as long as he has time to decompress. But time is running out. If you, or anyone you know, could foster or adopt, please reach out to me immediately. Tomorrow is his last chance. Let’s give him the fighting chance he deserves.

Brownie’s Christmas Wish

This sweet boy has already lost so much—his home, his eye, and now maybe his hope. Brownie met Santa this year and didn’t ask for toys, treats, or a warm bed. He only asked for one thing: a chance to live.

But so far, no one has answered his wish. No one has stepped up to give him the love and safety he deserves.

Brownie arrived at the shelter with a severe eye injury, and despite efforts to save it, we had no choice but to remove it. His time here has been hard—he’s nervous and scared, but he lights up around other dogs, as if they give him a glimmer of the life he could have.

We are out of time. We need space now, or more lives will be lost. Please, don’t let Brownie’s story end here.

Update: Getting adopted

💔 Poor Baby Tiger 💔

Sweet Tiger has been waiting patiently, but his little heart keeps breaking. Over the past month, he’s watched approximately 10 of his foster friends leave with their new families. He sits quietly, wagging his tail with hope every time someone comes, but they always leave without him. Not even one email about him. Not one.

Tiger is just 5 months old, a baby really, but he’s already being judged because he’s a little Pitbull puppy. Stereotypes are keeping him from finding his forever home, and it’s just not fair. Out of all the fosters this month, Tiger is the sweetest, most cuddly of them all. He loves people, toys, and snuggling close. So why hasn’t anyone noticed him?

He’s dog-friendly, crate-trained, toy and food motivated, and genuinely one of the best puppies you could ever meet. Yet, every time another friend gets picked and leaves, his little face falls, and you can see the sadness in his eyes. He doesn’t understand why no one is choosing him.

Tiger deserves better than this. He deserves a family to love him, a warm bed, and a life filled with happiness. It’s heartbreaking to see him passed over time and time again.

Tiger is located in Charlotte, NC, and he’s ready to meet you. Please don’t let him wait any longer. If you’re looking for a sweet, loyal, and loving pup to join your family, Tiger is your boy.

Email [email protected] to meet him. Let’s make sure he knows what it feels like to be chosen and loved. 🐾 💔

More Than Dog-Friendly—A Place Designed for Dogs

When people say we have a “dog-friendly” place, I always pause and correct them—not because I’m picky about labels, but because it doesn’t truly capture what we offer.

Here’s the difference: we don’t just allow dogs. We host dogs. We welcome them with open arms (and paws)! Every decision we’ve made about our space has been with dogs in mind.
• We spent countless hours researching to find the perfect beach location for our Isle of Dogs.
• We searched high and low for a property that checked every box—a great floor plan for dogs and, most importantly, an amazing yard for them to enjoy.
• We constantly adapt, improve, and fine-tune our space to make it as welcoming and safe as possible for pups of all kinds.

But it’s more than just the space. It’s about the spirit:
• We don’t discriminate based on breed.
• We don’t cap you at two dogs. Bring the whole pack!
• We use our property to help homeless dogs find forever homes by hosting fosters and giving back to the rescue community.

This isn’t just a rental—it’s a mission. It’s a haven for dogs and their humans, created with love, purpose, and a deep belief that dogs deserve more than just a “friendly” welcome.

If that resonates with you, we’d love to host you and your furry family. A few spots are still available, and we’ll be releasing new dates soon. Come experience a place that’s not just dog-friendly, but truly made for dogs. 🐾

This is a story that will shatter your heart into pieces—a story no living being should ever endure. It was shared by a volunteer who couldn’t let this sweet soul be forgotten, and now, I’m sharing it with you, because his pain deserves to be known.

This is Smoke. He’s 10 years old and weighs just 44 pounds, but his small frame carries a lifetime of suffering. Smoke belonged to a 90-year-old woman battling dementia. When HVAC workers entered her home, they uncovered a horror they could never have imagined: Smoke was living—if you can even call it that—in a dark, damp crawl space beneath the house.

He was skeletal, his right leg ravaged by deep, untreated wounds, his body raw with painful pressure sores and missing fur. Smoke had been utterly forgotten, left to waste away in silence. The woman, trapped in her own illness, had no memory of her beloved dog, the companion she once cared for. He was abandoned not out of malice, but because no one remembered him. His existence—his pain—had vanished into the shadows.

It’s unbearable to imagine how long he was down there, starving, hurting, and waiting. Waiting for someone to notice. Waiting for someone to save him. If those workers hadn’t stumbled upon him, Smoke would have died there, alone in the dark, without ever knowing kindness again.

Now, Smoke is in the shelter, and his suffering hasn’t stopped. He’s confused and heartbroken, his nose rubbed raw from the kennel walls. He doesn’t understand why his life turned into this nightmare. But despite it all—despite the neglect, the loneliness, and the unimaginable pain—Smoke remains gentle, sweet, and so desperately in need of love.

This boy deserves more than a tragic ending. At 10 years old, Smoke doesn’t have much time left, but what he does have could be beautiful. He could know love again. He could know comfort and peace. He could know what it means to matter.

But he needs someone to see him. To choose him. To save him.

Don’t let Smoke’s story end in sadness. If you have room in your heart and your home, please be his miracle. Be the one to show him that he hasn’t been forgotten. He’s waiting.

If you can help Smoke, please comment below, message me directly, or email me at [email protected]. You can also view his profile here: https://24Petconnect.com/DetailsMain/CHRL/A1124144

This poor dog is recovering from surgery to remove his eye, all while stuck in a rural shelter. Despite being described as very sweet and testing well with other dogs, not a single person has shown any interest in saving him. Now, he faces the heartbreaking risk of euthanasia the longer he is at the shelter due to lack of space—a tragic reality for so many dogs in shelters across this country.

(Do you own, foster or know someone with a dog-reactive pup? If so, read, comment and share)

Bringing a dog-reactive pup into your life is not for the faint of heart. It’s a journey that will challenge your patience, test your relationships, and teach you the true meaning of commitment. It’s like signing up for a reality show you didn’t audition for—Doggie Drama: The Reactive Edition. But at the heart of it all is a love so big, it makes every single challenge worthwhile.

Let’s be honest: a dog-reactive pup doesn’t come with a “Netflix and Chill” vibe. Walks turn into covert missions. You’ll learn to scan the horizon like a hawk, carrying a bag of treats like you’re James Bond armed with a squeaky toy. Social events? Yeah, those might get replaced by evenings spent googling “counterconditioning techniques” or building makeshift agility courses in your backyard.

And relationships? They’ll definitely be impacted. Your friends might stop inviting you to dog-friendly outings because “That’s the dog who tried to fight Bella at the park.” Your partner might question why they’re holding a bottle of cheese spray during your third impromptu training session of the day. But here’s the kicker: this little bundle of reactivity will bring out the best in you, and your relationships will grow stronger as you navigate this wild ride together.

There’s a magic in staying committed to a dog who needs you. That reactive pup doesn’t care about your bad day at work, your messy hair, or the fact that you just stepped on yet another squeaky toy. They care that you’re there. To them, you’re a superhero, their safe place, their everything. They don’t understand why they feel so overwhelmed around other dogs, but they know one thing for sure: you make it better.

The world might tell you that reactive dogs are “too much work” or “not worth it,” but let me tell you—they are. They’ll teach you resilience, unconditional love, and the art of celebrating tiny victories. The first time they ignore a passing dog, you’ll cheer louder than a soccer fan at a championship game. And when they curl up next to you at the end of the day, looking at you with eyes full of trust, you’ll know it’s all been worth it.

So, to those considering fostering or adopting a reactive dog, remember this: yes, it’s a challenge. Yes, it’s going to take time, patience, and a sense of humor. But that dog needs you. They love you with every fiber of their being, and in their world, you’re the best thing that’s ever happened to them.

And honestly, isn’t that the greatest gift of all?

(Mini was our foster for many months, most fosters would have given up on her but we didn’t, we stayed committed until she found a perfect home for her!!!)

URGENT: Charlotte, NC — watch the videos!!!

The shelter was - 22 kennels as of midafternoon yesterday, and more dogs still coming in after that information went out! Among them is a terrified young dog, so scared she’s hiding under her cot. This poor girl desperately needs a foster home or rescue to step up.

The shelter has a wonderful fostering program—all you need to do is show up with your ID, and you can take her home for a few days to help her decompress. There has to be someone out there with a kind heart and a quieter space who can help her.

People like me who care are already stretched beyond capacity with dogs, but she still has a chance if someone steps up now. Please—she doesn’t need much, just a soft bed, patience, and a little love. If you can’t foster, share this far and wide. Her life depends on it!

Remember: I’m just a dog lover that uses my business, skills and voice to help dogs! I’m not a shelter, a rescue or work for any of them!!!
