Today marks one month since sweet Mecca has been with us 😢 She has had ZERO inquiries for her and we just do not understand why ☹️ She is a sweet girl who is dog friendly and crate trained. She is 4 years old, playful and spunky!

Mecca was left abandoned in a home by the only person she loved. They moved and left her behind. She was terrified and confused and landed at a kill shelter on the euthanasia list. No matter what happened with her prior family, and how they heartlessly left her to fend for herself without caring what happened to her, she did NOT deserve that. Most importantly she did NOT deserve to die.

“Today was a very special day for two of our longest residents! Scar and Pumbaa adopted out together ❤️. A wonderful family drove hundreds of miles to save them. We are beyond ecstatic for them! Scar and Pumbaa both waited so long for this chance at furever. Happy tails sweet boys 🎉☺️!”

Heartbreaking to a see a dog suffer because nobody is willing to give him a chance, look at the before and during pictures. This poor dog will be euthanized if nobody steps up for him due to how he is deteriorating.

Volunteer notes: Loved this boy !! He was very shy out in the yard at first. He first just wanted to sniff around and didn’t bother with me. He eventually approached me and very hesitantly took a treat. He warmed up little by little. Eventually he came over and gave me a kiss and later became more playful. When he saw Jensen walk by he was extra excited. Makes me think he would make a very loyal, loving companion after realizing he can trust someone. He is very responsive to treats. Either someone taught him to lay/bow at one point or he is just very smart. Or both. He’s pretty big, but very gentle. Takes treats gently. By the end, he was chasing toys and running little zoomies. So cute.

A rescue is ready to save Rex, but they can only pull him if the $1,000 I committed is donated. This funding is critical to cover a trainer for him (the total needed is $1,700 and $1000 has been raised so $700 is left).

I don’t have the emotional bandwidth to explain the full story of how Rex ended up in this heartbreaking situation, but the reality is—he is at high risk of euthanasia. My only focus right now is saving his life.

Rex sat in a shelter for two months before we fostered him for two weeks. In that short time, he became my teenager’s best friend, following her everywhere unless she was at school. He’s a loving, people-focused, and incredibly sweet dog who deserves to live and find a real family. We fell in love with him, and I know he deserves better.

This is heartbreaking for Marko that waited months for a chance and when he got it he died. Please keep his rescue and the volunteers that help in your thoughts, cases like this are hard, very hard.

TToday was more than just a day at the beach—it was a gift. The kind of memory that stays with you long after the sun has set.

She walked along the quiet shore, the waves gently kissing the sand at her feet, but her heart was focused on the dog beside her. Max. A senior soul with graying fur and tired eyes, yet full of quiet wisdom and love (for food).

Max wasn’t the family favorite by any means. He’d always kept to himself unless wanting food, never seeking to be beside his family, never demanding love. But she saw him—truly saw him. While others overlooked his quiet presence, she had always found comfort in it. They shared a bond no one else in the family quite understood.

Today, they walked together, side by side, in the cool ocean breeze. His steps were slower now, his legs a little shaky, but he was there. Present. His eyes, clouded but still gentle, watched her as if he knew this was special too. The beach was nearly empty, just the sound of the waves and the seagulls above, giving them a perfect, peaceful moment.

She threw a piece of driftwood, not expecting him to chase it. But Max surprised her. With a spark of his younger self, he trotted after it, his tail wagging faintly, and brought it back with a look that seemed to say, "Thank you for bringing me here."

It wasn’t just a beach day. It was a reminder that every moment matters. That love often speaks in quiet ways—like the gentle nuzzle of an old dog who finally feels understood.

Max may not have been everyone’s dog. But today, in the salty air, he was hers. And that memory will last forever.

After arriving north she eventually underwent surgery to have both eyes removed to give her a pain free life. Kiko has now found her forever home and we are thankful😍. Kobe is one incredible success story. Thanks to your generous donations and one amazing follower who fostered him in NC, Kobe made his way up North to an incredible rescue that gave him the second chance he deserved. Huge thanks to everyone who helped along the way—the shelter that fought for him, the fosters who opened their home, the donations (so many of you here donated) and the rescue that is fighting to get him a true happily ever after.

As 2024 draws to a close, I find myself reflecting on the past few years, which have been challenging in many ways. Yet, one constant source of joy and renewal has been visiting Isle of Dogs. Spending time with my dogs on the beach has been the highlight—moments that recharged my spirit and created cherished memories I’ll carry forever.

As we move into 2026, I hope you take time to create moments like these with the ones you love. Whether you join us here or venture elsewhere, make the most of the time you have to build memories that will stay with you always.
