Snapper Cottage has some new updates for 2025! As always every year, there are things to replace and renew. This year we have new cushions for the loungers in the backyard, a new swing, a new table for the patio, and a new look for the screened in porch. Can you believe it's 2024 already? Summer is booking up quickly here at Snapper Cottage, with June and July already filled. Our family operated vacation rental home has been hosting since 2016. To say time flies when you're having fun might be a cliché, but it's true. Before Snapper Cottage became a vacation rental home, I lived here. 9 years ago was my last Christmas at the cottage. 2022 marked my 10th year of calling this area my home. I can't imagine living anywhere else. If you haven't discovered the Oak Island~Southport, North Carolina area, it's a true remote delight.
If you've been here before, well...then you know what we mean. We hope to see you all soon! From all of us at Snapper Cottage, safe and happy holidays to all.

Oh my...the Jasmine vines framing the front porch at Snapper Cottage are in full bloom and the fragrance is as sweet as the ocean breeze.

This has been our busiest year yet- everyone seems to be ready to move on and relax after the pandemic. We are fully booked for May, June, July, and most of August. Spring has sprung! Get an eyeful of our gorgeous Rio Samba Rose that is in full bloom. The Jasmine vines growing around the front porch will be blooming next, filling the air with their sweet fragrance.

We are completely booked up until August 21st, and fall reservations are already beginning to come in. Our cottage is pet friendly, sleeps up to 7 people, and is nestled in the quiet wooded area of Oak Island, NC. It's a short walk to the beach using the nature trail on SE 9th St, or just a minute's drive with free parking at any of the Oak Island beach accesses.

Happy New Year everyone! This year our family owned and operated vacation rental home celebrates FIVE years of welcoming and hosting guests! To all our visitors who have made this possible, we cannot thank you enough.

We've had the pleasure of meeting people from all over the USA, and from several countries abroad. Although 2020 was particularly trying with the covid-19 pandemic, we look forward to brighter times as a vaccine will soon be available.

Our cottage sleeps 7, and offers a spacious open floor plan. We're located in the middle of the island, but it is an easy walk or minute drive to either the ocean or the ICW.

Greetings earthlings! It's been a while but wanted to let you know that we are still up, running and taking extra precautions due to the covid-19 pandemic. Yes, cleanliness of Snapper Cottage has always been a priority and our reviews are evident of this. But now is the time to kick it up an even higher notch. Light switches, doorknobs, remote controls, drawer pulls, frequently touched surfaces- etc, yep, they get wiped down with bleach between each guest.

Yes,we in NC are still in a continued phase 2 of re-opening, but we are doing our part to help ensure the health of our guests, and strongly encourage social distancing as recommended by the CDC and WHO.

Yet, there becomes a point when the need for mental health and relaxation is just as crucial as precautions for covid-19. It's been a tough year, but we are still here and have a few weeks left available for the summer. Our availability is as follows:

September 5th-September 12th, 2020

In addition to a State of Emergency declared by the federal government and the state of North Carolina, the town of Oak Island has also declared a State of Emergency in response to the COVID-19. Effective immediately, the mayor has prohibited any new short term vacation rental occupancies. Visitors and tourists have been ordered to evacuate by Tuesday, March 24th at 2pm. The ban on short term rentals will last until April 30th, 2020, but town officials may extend that date if needed.

Until the State of Emergency is rescinded, we regret that at this time Snapper Cottage cannot accept any new reservations. Thank you all so very much for your support and patience as we get through this turbulence. We'll keep you updated. Stay healthy everyone!
