Meet Betty Saletta, the incredible artist behind Oakdale’s iconic bronze cowboy statue, Yesterday is Tomorrow. At 83, Betty’s legacy lives through her breathtaking sculptures, each telling a story of craftsmanship, Western heritage, and artistic passion.

Born with an undeniable talent, Betty’s journey into sculpting didn’t begin until the early 1980s—but once she started, there was no looking back. Her life-sized cowboy, commissioned in 1990, remains a symbol of Oakdale’s deep-rooted cowboy culture and artistic spirit.

From Modesto to Ripon, Betty’s work can be found across the Central Valley, with powerful sculptures like Paper Boy in McClatchy Square and Chief Estanislao at the Stanislaus County Courthouse.

Celebrate the Stanislaus River Salmon Festival!

Come out on Saturday, November 9th from 10 AM - 3 PM at the Knights Ferry Recreation Area for a day full of family-friendly fun, education, and entertainment celebrating the annual salmon run on the Stanislaus River!

🌞 What to Expect:

Interactive exhibits and educational activities 🎓
Live entertainment, including Healing Drum Native American drummers 🥁
See a real bald eagle, tortoises, and live salmon in the river 🦅🐢🐟

🎃🍂 Get Ready for the 61st Annual Knights Ferry Pumpkin Roll! 🍂🎃

Come out for a one-of-a-kind fall tradition in Knights Ferry on Sunday, Nov. 3! This unique, Halloween-inspired event brings out the whole community for a day of festive fun. Here’s what to look forward to:

👶 Pumpkin Rolling Begins:

• Registration starts at 10:45 a.m. in front of the Knights Ferry Community Club on Main Street.
• Kicking off with the youngest rollers (ages 5 and under) at noon on the tennis courts.
• The Main Street Roll starts at 1 p.m., with categories for all ages!

🏆 Roll to Win: Roll your chosen pumpkin down Main Street, aiming for the chalked finish line. Closest pumpkin wins a trophy for each age group, so bring your A-game!

🥞 Fuel Up Early: Pancake breakfast at the IOOF Hall from 8 a.m. to noon!

🎨 Craft Faire and More: Nearly three dozen vendor booths, food, and beverages on-site.

🏛 Explore Knights Ferry: The museum, ice cream shop, and Knights Ferry Art Studio will be open. Check out the recent updates to Miller’s Hall or take a scenic stroll to the Stanislaus River to spot the salmon!
